Why use it if a DL trip accomplishes the same goal? The way Buxton is (not) developing, having an option in one’s back pocket seems like a prudent idea.

 

How would it accomplish the same goal? 

 

The goal is to get him hitting like he was at the end of 2017. He could work on that in Rochester, not on the DL.
