OldTimeTwinkie Provisional Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Illegal substitution. We need more utility players on our bench.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 What are our broadcasters saying?
scottz Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I've never seen such a thing. Fascinating.
scottz Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Signaled to the bullpen before he told the umpire he wanted to make the double switch is the guess but the video didn't support that.
scottz Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Dave Roberts probably corrects grammar on Twitter, too.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Dodgers are 76 games over .500 and feel they need to be rule nerds in order to beat us
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Wait, why did it take a full 10 minutes for this illegal substitution stuff? What in the world is going on?!
scottz Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I hope they get the batting order wrong next inning because then you'll really see some messed up rules depending on when Roberts notices the wrong batting order.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 The dodgers organist is a magician
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Hooray, inherited runs! Can we send Pressly down for a bench player like Garver now?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Cleveland, KC, TB and the Yankees all won tonight (or yesterday). If you have a fork, get ready to stick it
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Fire Molitor before morning. What an embarrassment

S. Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Paul clearly does not understand the rules in some way.Inspiring great confidence in his managing abilities.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I want to hear someone excuse that
Pius Jefferson Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Molitor is not a good manager and is probably a bad manager.
scottz Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Honest question: there isn't a limit on which two players can be involved in a double switch, is there?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I want to hear someone excuse thatDon't worry, we'll hear plenty of it tomorrow. Er, I mean later today.
OldTimeTwinkie Provisional Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Our bench is pathetic. We have 4 utility players in the game now. When is Buxton coming back?
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 At least I know who to root against in the NL play-offs. Dave Roberts can take a long walk off a short pier
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Hooray, inherited runs! Can we send Pressly down for a bench player like Garver now?Can we still send him back to the Red Sox?
scottz Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 That's a terrible explanation. If therewas a miscommunication, and nothing had occurred yet to change the game from the time the switch was made, why would that miscommunication error have to stand as the "right" move?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Mourning*POTN -- and I've been here all night
OldTimeTwinkie Provisional Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Trade Roberts for Molitor and throw in Presley.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 What are our broadcasters saying?Provus and Gladden are still guessing. Best theory I heard them say is that the Sano scratch caused Polanco to be in the starting lineup, but the Twins failed to take Polanco off of the list of reserves. That the lineup cards were exchanged before the game per usual, and then Roberts either caught it during the double switch or saw it right away, but waited for the right moment to pounce on the mistake.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 And if so, kudos to Gladden for figuring that out. That is some high level thinking.
scottz Verified Member Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Dick passing on a guess from someone on Twitter that it might have to do with confusing the fielder number 7 (left fielder Rosario) and batting order number 7 (Polanco). Not sure that makes sense either though.
