Best All-Time MLB Players By Jersey Number

The Sporting News posted a pretty neat little blog/page showing each uniform number (1-99) and highlighting the best player in MLB history to wear it. It also provides Honorable Mention where appropriate.

 

The Twins/Fans should be happy with #s 28, 29, 48, 57, 65, 81 and 97... 

 

And we'll probably be understanding at #s 3, 4 and 34.

I love offbeat stuff like this. My son once found a web site that listed all major league players who have (or had) names that no other major league player has had. There are a handful who have (or had) both unique first names and unique last names. For example, there has only been one major leaguer whose first name was Dustan and there has only been one major leaguer whose last name was Mohr. Also, there has only been one major leaguer whose first name was Harmon and there has only been one major leaguer whose last name was Killebrew. I asked my son about that recently and he doesn't recall how he came across it. I made a brief effort to find it but my internet search skills are very rudimentary so I didn't succeed. I think it would be extremely cool if someone is able to track that down.
