Triple-A Rochester right-handed pitcher A.J. Achter is the Twins Minor League Player of the Week...Achter appeared in three games for the Red Wings, tossing 5.0 shutout innings with two hits, four walks and seven strikeouts... he has gone 3-2, 2.15 ERA (37.2 IP, 9 ER) with 13 saves in 33 games for the Red Wings this season...earlier this week he was named an International League All-Star for the second straight season...he was originally acquired by the Twins in the 46th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft from Michigan State University.

Single-A Cedar Rapids right-handed pitcher Felix Jorge is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Jorge made one start for the Kernels on Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits in 7.0 innings pitched with one walk and seven strikeouts...he has gone 5-3, 2.10 ERA (103.0 IP, 24 ER) with 23 walks and 82 strikeouts in 16 starts for the Kernels this season... he was originally signed by the Twins as an undrafted free agent in February of 2011.

Double-A Chattanooga catcher Stuart Turner is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Turner played in five games for the Lookouts, hitting .471 (8-for-17) with two doubles, one home run, four RBI, six runs scored and six walks with a .609 on-base percentage...in 73 games for the Lookouts this season, Turner has hit .220 (55-for-250) with 10 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 25 RBI...the Louisiana native was drafted by the Twins in the third round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft from the University of Mississippi.

Reynaldo Rodriguez was named the International League Hitter of the Week.

 

Red Wings press release:

 

Rodriguez hit in all six Red Wings games last week and batted .385 (10-for-26) with four doubles, a triple, two home runs, five RBI, six runs scored and a stolen base. His 22 total bases, .846 slugging and 1.231 OPS were tops in the league from July 27-August 2 while tying for the league lead in runs and extra-base hits. He hit two home runs during the period, tying him with Danny Ortiz for the team lead with 12.

 

Reynaldo had four multi-hit efforts during the week and has three straight multi-hit games. He has also doubled in four straight.  Rodriguez leads the IL with 44 extra-base hits, 64 runs scored and ranks third with 27 doubles and 176 total bases. He’s hit in 10 straight games since July 23.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels announced today that four Kernels were among Baseball America's "Best Tools" award winners for the Midwest League, as listed in the Aug 6 issue of BA.

 

Trevor Hildenberger (Best Relief Pitcher), Brian Navarreto (Best Defensive Catcher), Nick Gordon (Best Defensive Shortstop) and Jake Mauer (Best Managerial Prospect).

 

Hildenberger was promoted to High-A Fort Myers on July 22nd.

Rochester and Chattanooga).

Byron Buxton has been named the International League's Hitter of the Week:

 

 

 

For the week, Buxton batted .400 (14-for-35) with 7 runs scored, a homer and 4 RBI. He joined the Wings August 7 on a rehab assignment, then was optioned to Rochester on August 10. He has at least one hit in each of the 11 games he's played for the Red Wings.

Triple-A Rochester right-handed pitcher Jose Berrios is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Berrios made one start for the Red Wings on Wednesday at Syracuse, pitching 7.0 shutout innings with three hits allowed, one walk and 12 strikeouts, earning the win as he recorded consecutive double-digit strikeout totals...he has combined to go 12-5, 2.95 ERA (155.1 IP, 51 ER) with 37 walks and 165 strikeouts in 25 starts between Double-A Chattanooga and Rochester...Baseball America ranked him the 19th best midseason prospect in baseball in July.
