ashbury Verified Member Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Head first slide into second and he never looked as to where the ball was going.It didn't look terribly heads-up on his part, but if he had immediately headed for third he could well have been thrown out by a lot, as the ball hadn't really trickled away very far and the center fielder (I think it was) was pretty alertly on the scene already. Of course on the ensuing scratch single he ended up thrown out by a lot at home, on a reasonable baserunning decision by the coach, so maybe it's pick your poison. A Cardinal baserunner, I forget who, made a worse decision to not go to third on a weak throw by Farris (replacing Hunter in right). Things even out.
