Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 a. Rory Rhodes, the big Aussie 1B with a lot of power was demoted from Beloit and is starting there today. b. Hudson Boyd (who is Joba Chamberlain's spit image - see photo) is starting today. Lots thought he would be a reliever, but good to see him start. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7098/7022468801_1536d78b58_o.jpg

Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Thrylos - they said they would let Boyd start early in his career. Many "experts" think he will eventually be a reliever, but the Twins won't make that decision with a 19 year old with a power arm. Rhodes is a 1B, even though he was listed as an OF on the roster. It's his fourth year in the rookie leagues, so as I wrote the other day in my E-Twins preview, he's taking advantage of the new rule.

Even if it is 3 plus 3 like tonight. Same principle as the 2012 draftees... IE ate that, so I am redoing it: Rhodes killed the Aussie league last winter -here summer there but gee he gotta make contact.
Twins Fan From Afar Verified Member Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Rhodes had a good night at the plate -- 3-for-4 with a double I believe.
