Wren out in Atlanta

Looks like Atlanta is doing a Bill Smith/Terry Ryan switch.  Wren, a longtime Assistant GM to John Schuerholz, was promoted in 07.  Strong scouting background but his drafts were questioned by guys like Klaw and some top prospects failed to break through at the ML level, although some unknown prospects developed pretty well.  Sounds like Schuerholz or former GM Jon Hart, who was recently hired by Atlanta as a special assistant, will be the new/old GM.

Hart's taking over, but only to mentor a younger guy within the organization, a la his relationship with Jon Daniels in Texas.

 

Wren's drafts were criticized once highly-regarded minor league director Roy Clark left the organization.  There's a lot of friction within the front office, and Wren was apparently the sand in the gears in that organization.

 

I seriously think they need to also make a change in manager as well, but right now, it sounds like his job is safe.
