Batter up! (Yes, Brian, that's you. Now get in there!)

I apologize... I'm jammed for time and only have time for a thought or two.

Things to Think About:

1. The Trade Deadline -- Wow... Billy Beane is fearless. Trading Cespedes takes balls of steel. Trading him for what could be a two month rental in Lester. He must feel that the A's are ready to go for it and he wants it. And While he was wheeling and dealing... He also shipped Tommy Milone over to the Twins for Sam Fuld. Never in my wildest dreams did I think the Twins could have gotten a quality pitcher for a guy we picked up off waivers. Milone doesn't throw hard and there will be some members of TD who will write him off because of that. But... He's tricky and he has produced an ERA under 4.00 since hitting the majors and that isn't easy to do. Incredible deal for the Twins. Meanwhile... Willingham is still here and I assume he will get dealt in August.

2.3.4. The OF -- No Fuld... So now the Twins need help in CF again. The Twins did a poor job planning for this position this year. There is no other way to put it.

5. Oops -- My wife did something nice for me yesterday and in my attempt to show my appreciation... I gotta little mixed up and told her "That she has made a happy man very old". I didn't catch it when I said it... She did... Oops.

@MikeBerardino: Kennys Vargas, traveling from Trenton, N.J., was due to land in KC around 5:30 p.m. Too late to take BP on the field.

Maybe he will pinch hit.

Dozier sent to the woodshed for the baserunning mistake. Actually, Brian needs a day or two off. His OBP has sunk faster than his batting average and he's made more reckless mistakes in the past month than heads-up plays. The dog days hit him early.

The lineup didn't get posted on mlb.com until very late. I wonder if Gardenhire wanted Vargas to be the DH, but could not go with it without seeing him in uniform.

Suzuki gets a day off to celebrate his extension. Good for him. I can't say that the Twins' chances are very good tonight, but when things shake out, maybe there will be some fun in the last third of the season.

Remember when Vargas got out of his 50 day suspension and was added to the Beloit team with Sano & Rosario? Who would have thought he would be the first to join the Twins?

For those of us who haven't been able to quote, I just succeeded! I went to the "MultiQuote" option and clicked it and I was able to quote and reply.

Hey! I can even quote by clicking "Quote". Brock must have done something,

Life is a series of one run victories.

A couple among many of the big topics last night were the songs "The Night Chicago Died" and "Stuck in the Middle With You." Heard both today. That's a good sign. Twins win 3-1. Vargas doubles off the bench.

Wouldn't it be a bad sign?  Like a repeat of last night?

Somebody put on the reverse jinx.

Meh, I think both of you are jinxing things with any talk of outcomes, good or bad! ;)

Yes, I'm a superstitious sports nut. Go figure.

Suzuki's interview is priceless:

"Playing against the Twins they're always a winning team.... besides the last couple of years."

"Tommy (Milone) is a gamer. He won't light up the radar gun or be out on the mound pumping his fist."

It's like Gardy and Ryan were whispering in his ear how to answer.

The Royals are reputed to have the best defense in the AL until they play the Twins! Hey, I couldn't even write my comment before they threw another one away!

Aaron Hicks just needs a triple for the cycle (okay, okay, I know its the hardest part).

Nice night for him but NB is behind 4-2.

If anybody cares, the Trivia Question was "name the pitchers who won double digit games for both the Athletics and the Twins". I will give the answer in five minutes if anyone wants to guess or research the answer. Hint: Three left handers.
