Morosi: Twins to Designate Jason Marquis for Assignment

Yeah, we could be looking at a Pavano (if he holds up!), Diamond, Walters, DeVries, Manship rotation at that point. And fine by me, honestly. Pavano is the only tradeable starter. I would rather have Blackburn shut it down and get healthy for next year when he is REALLY paid way too much. I imagine Hendriks will be up after 5 or so more starts at AAA.

Yeah, I agree, that would be fine by me as well.

I'll go with the class that he showed through what will likely be the most difficult time in his life and the several weeks since then while he's struggled. Even if he wasn't always shown that same respect and class in return.

I don't think that anyone on this site has an opinion of whether Jason Marquis is a good or bad person and we all feel the utmost sympathy for his daughter and her recovery. Thank goodness she survived and a lot of us have probably had similar situations impact our lives, be it a son, daughter, brother, sister, etc... The jubilation shown by the TF Daily is based strictly on performance and nothing else. Marquis was not good and a move needed to be made. Marquis is probably disappointed, but I would take a guess that his DFA was handled professionally and with kind words from Terry Ryan. Marquis doesn't have it so bad. He was paid millions of dollars to pitch for the Twins for 1.75 months. Class and Respect? We'll all have to answer that question for ourselves.

I thought the Twins were very sympathetic and respectful to Marquis when his daughter got hurt. Seemed to me they went out of their way to make things as easy as possible for him. If you're referring to fans, there will always be people who act as if life revolves around their divine right to have other people be responsible for their happiness.

I agree that most of it is baseball related. And even the question I was answering probably was, but it certainly stinks of a certain level of snark that just felt like piling on. Doesn't seem to be any need for that, and I guess that makes it come off as personal (as did the one prior response). Point taken.

No, as stated in my reply to Bark's Lounge, I was referring to some of the sarcasm that seemed a bit personal. I will also point out that I was probably at least in some part reacting to the fact that I read some comments on the local paper today for the first time in a while...and there was one there talking about how he took more time than he ought to have dealing with the accident. Aren't people awesome?

Yuck... and "F' the person who put that out there.

I think DeVries would be on regular rest if he started on Thursday for the Twins - has a corresponding move been made yet? Liriano hasn't seemed to figure out his control/delivery problems yet, he's probably not the right guy to rejoin the rotation just yet. It's too bad that Marquis didn't meet expectations, it was a fairly low bar set for a pitcher that was a solid back of the rotation guy just a couple years ago.
