Posnanski on Perk's All Star Day

Joe Posnanski has a new post up on Glen Perkin's All Star appearance:

The thing that strikes me is how quickly time flies. It feels like Perk has been a reliever for so long now. How quickly his fortunes changed.

 

One other thought. How cool would it have been to have to Minnesotans out there in the 9th. Perkins pitching; Mauer catching. But then, if Mauer was still catching, it probably wouldn't have happened anyway because Mauer probably would have been the starter.

I absolutely love Posnanski anyway, and having him write about Perkins for this was just awesome. Perkins has always seemed a little more "in-tune" with the average sports fan than most professional athletes, so the bit about him being a nervous fan of Posnanski's was golden.

 

I read stories about Perkins sometimes and wonder what would have happened if his disagreement over service time had been a little worse. Or maybe if he had won the case and been awarded the extra few days to become a super-two, would the Twins even have kept him around since he wasn't pitching particularly well? Thankfully we are where we are, and I hope Perkins picks up a few more fans from this.
