ST Early Questions

Twins Video

1- Why were Buxton and Sano cut so early? I have to assume that they were that far behind. How did Sano look at 3rd considering his inflated weight? Actually the best thing for the Twins would probably be moving him to first, as I think our production there will remain less than stellar.

2-Can this team win without Escobar playing everyday? I would love to think they are that good but I don't believe it.

I sure hope the Twins don't trade him...a young talented player that had a very good year..probably only second to Santana.

I'm really pulling for Rosario in CF, as he has a long term future with the Twins. I believe Hicks is finished, can we get a box of donuts for him? When Arcia was tearing up the Appy league, how many remember it was Rosario that led the league in Hr's?

Pitching looks like it will be average which is definitely progress. I would like to see Meyer as 5th starter or at lease in bullpen, I believe sending him to minors is counterproductive and not the best option for his future.

1 - Sano didn't have inflated weight, and he had his moments of clear rust but he was OK. Why were they sent down? They weren't going to make the team and they have some tough decisions to make. Buxton needed playing time. He wasn't playing terribly much in big league camp. They can both go down to minor league camp and get more at bats and get ready for their seasons.

2 - Yes.

yes. Rosario had 21 HR in ETown that year and Sano had 20. Of course, they were great hitters and the fences there were quite short.

I was convinced it was Arcia and Rosario but just looked at rosters and you are right, its Sano and Rosario

Escobar is not the lynch pin that the success of this team hinges on. He was the worst hitter of the Twins regulars last season (102 OPS+), which is pretty great for the worst regular, but that's not a guy who makes the team go, and while he provides slightly above average defense at SS, I think SanDana can provide the same. I think Escobar gets regular at bats and probably plays 4-5 games a week, filling in around the diamond and giving guys day off hear and there.
