I agree that Bartlett and Kubel preclude the front office from acquiring young talent for a rebuild, and this is indeed far too old of a team to be considered a youthful rebuild.

What does AA and AAA look like for major league caliber and ready prospects for each team? I'm not certain, but maybe Chicago had to acquire young players because they had none in their system ready and adequate for the bigs.

i think this will be a telling season for the Twins front office. By mid season you could see the full rebuild on.

I think you are right about Chicago. They didn't have young talent near ready so they went out and acquired it.

Seems like the Twins are in a similar space. While they may have expected Sano and Meyer to play this year, they still have several other spots to fill. They chose veterans. The White chose the upside of youth. Both teams don't look very good this year. If the White Sox develop two players out of those 7, they will be two players better off.

To get some of these players the White Sox had to have the major league talent to trade, which they did. Rios and Peavey are above average players heading towards the downside of their careers. The return for these players offers youth but not necessarily even above average talent. The signing of Abreu is a different conversation.

Although they may have looked good for one game against the Twins, your list other than Abreu looks like a list of replacement level players. The skill level is more important. Blast away at the Twins for not adding a higher level of skill in position players. The age is irrelevant.
