2013 Twins Top 50

Twins Video

The 2012 minor league season is over and much will remain quiet in the prospect world for some time. A few players have "graduated" from September call-ups, but from a new standpoint here we go. Unlike last list, a lot of insight was taken from a few other Twins farm followers. This year's performance has is a critical component as is talent. Tools and the other insight as mentioned were the big factors that caused guys like Morales to rise. I know I may do these a little frequently, but just mind my obsession!

Other candidates:

Josh Burris - 7-0 this season with a sub 2.00 ERA (Elizabethton) - Most wins in Appy League. Killer curve and mid 90+FB -- Solid as a middle reliever.

Matt Tomshaw - (Beloit) - Lefty who knows how to pitch and can eat up innings. Pitch to contact guy.

Candido Pimentel - Appy League MVP (small stature, but just gets on base) - small ball guy

I believe that Benson should be lower at least until he shows he can adjust next year. Maybe move everyone else until Hermsen up a spot. Top end looks solid, but still most are 2 years away. This is better than last year however for a positive note.

Why drop Matt Hauser?

I thought he was too old. He's 24, but he did start at 22 so I probably should have cut him a little more slack. I mean I did include Pugh.

Burris was a big consideration, but he was a little low in the system and about age average for E-Town. By the time i get to around 45-50 it gets filled with "guys I like" that don't get too much attention. He would probably beat Wickens and a few others on someone else's rankings. Pimental wasn't toolsy enough and his age wasn't appropriate for Elizabethton. His one year wonder success this season was also a concern that cost Daniel Ortiz quite a few spots. Tomshaw isn't a strikeout artist and is pretty old for his league. The worst I feel about is Hauser as shanewahl wrote since I neglected his good track record and brief minor league career. He's probably a 40-50 player.
