Twins Minor League Player of the Week:

 

Week of 4/10-4/16: Nick Gordon

 

Single-A Ft. Myers infielder Nick Gordon is the Twins minor league Player of the Week... Gordon played in six games for the Miracle, hitting .444 (12-for-27) with five doubles, one home run, four RBI, five runs scored, one walk and two stolen bases...he spent 2015 with Single-A Cedar Rapids, hitting .277 (133-for-481) with 23 doubles, seven triples, one home run, 58 RBI, 79 runs scored and 25 stolen bases...the 20-year-old is the younger brother of Dee and the son of Tom “Flash” Gordon...he was drafted by the Twins in the first round (5th overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Olympia (FL) High School...he entered the season as the Twins fourth best prospect by Baseball America.

Twins Minor League Player of the Week (4/17-4/23):

 

Single-A Ft. Myers left-handed pitcher Stephen Gonsalves is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Gonsalves made the start Tuesday night vs. Jupiter, allowing two runs (1 earned) on five hits in 7.0 innings pitched, with one walk and eight strikeouts, earning the win...Gonsalves has made three starts for the Miracle this season, going 1-1, 1.89 ERA (19.0 IP, 4 ER) with four walks and 18 strikeouts...he was drafted by the Twins in the fourth round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego...he entered the season as the Twins ninth best prospect by Baseball America

Twins Minor League Player of the Week (4/24-4/30):

 

Double-A Chattanooga outfielder Daniel Palka is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Palka played six games for the Lookouts, hitting .619 (13-for-21) with four doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, six runs scored and six walks...in 20 games for Chattanooga this season, he has hit .338 (27-for-80) with seven doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI...he was acquired by the Twins via trade with Arizona on November 10, 2015, in exchange for catcher/outfielder Chris Herrmann.

Single-A Cedar Rapids catcher A.J. Murray is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Murray played in five games for the Kernels, hitting .565 (13-for-23) with three doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, eight runs scored, two walks and a .600 on-base percentage...on Friday, Murray went 5-for-5 at Wisconsin, hitting two home runs with five RBI, five runs scored and a walk...Murray was drafted by the Twins in the 14th round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA...

International League Pitcher of the Week: Andrew Albers

 

Albers made one start, needing just 91 pitches in a complete game win vs. Gwinnett as Rochester knocked off the Braves 7-1 on Wednesday. The southpaw from North Battleford, Saskatchewan allowed three hits and one walk while striking out six batters. He had seven 1-2-3 innings and faced only three batters in another thanks to a double play. The complete game was the sixth of his pro career and fifth in the minors. Albers tossed three of those as a member of the Red Wings in 2013.

Midwest League Player of the Week: AJ Murray

 

The Midwest League and MiLB.com announced today that Kernels catcher A.J. Murray has been named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the period ending May 15th. The Minnesota Twins also announced that Murray has been named the Twins Minor League Player of the Week for that same period.

 

Murray hit .520 (13-25) with four doubles, one triple two home runs and nine RBI in six games last week for the Kernels. He also scored seven runs, drew three walks and had a .567 slugging percentage during those six games. The Twins selected Murray in the 14th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Georgia Tech University.

Triple-A Rochester first baseman Kennys Vargas is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Vargas played in five games for the Red Wings hitting .440 (11-for-25) with two doubles, four home runs, 10 RBI, six runs scored and one walk...Vargas has played in 42 games for the Red Wings this season, hitting .252 (37-for-147) with six doubles, six home runs and 25 RBI...

Adam Brett Walker was named the International League Hitter of the Week... Going 7-20 with 5 home runs will do that.

Double-A Chattanooga right-handed pitcher Trevor Hildenberger is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Hildenberger appeared in three games for the Lookouts, pitching 3.0 scoreless innings, with no hits allowed, no walks, two strikeouts and two saves...he was drafted by the Twins in the 22nd round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Cal-Berkeley...he has appeared in 20 games between Chattanooga and Single-A Ft. Myers this season, posting a 1.32 ERA (27.1 IP, 3 ER) with three walks, 25 strikeouts and 10 saves...

Single-A right-handed pitcher Felix Jorge is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Jorge made one start for the Miracle, allowing one run on six hits in 7.2 innings pitched, with no walks and six strikeouts against Lakeland on Wednesday...Jorge has made 11 starts for the Miracle this season, going 6-3, 1.59 ERA (73.2 IP, 13 ER) with 10 walks and 61 strikeouts.

Triple-A Rochester right-handed pitcher Jose Berrios is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Berrios made one start for the Red Wings on Thursday at Columbus, pitching 8.0 scoreless innings, with three hits allowed, two walks and nine strikeouts, earning the win...in his last four starts for the Red Wings, Berrios has gone 3-1, 2.51 ERA (28.2 IP, 8 ER) with eight walks and 32 strikeouts...in 10 starts for the Red Wings this season, he is 6-3, 2.92 ERA (61.2 IP, 20 ER) with 25 walks and 67 strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .199 batting average.

Rookie-level Elizabethton outfielder Jaylin Davis is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Davis appeared in seven games for the E-Twins, hitting .320 (8-for-25) with five home runs, nine RBI, eight runs scored and three walks...the Greensboro, North Carolina native, who turned 22 on Friday, is in his first season in the Twins system after being drafted in the 24th round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Appalachian State University...he is the first Twins minor leaguer from E-Town to win this award in 2016.

Double-A Chattanooga catcher Mitch Garver is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Garver appeared in six games for the Lookouts, hitting .455 (10-for-22) with four doubles, one home run, five RBI and six walks... Garver has played 68 games for Chattanooga this season, hitting .282 (71-for-252) with 18 doubles, eight home runs, 48 RBI and 35 walks...the Albuquerque, NM native was drafted by the Twins in the ninth round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of New Mexico.

Single-A Cedar Rapids infielder Zander Wiel is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Wiel appeared in five games for the Kernels, hitting .444 (8-for-18) with one double, three home runs, 12 RBI, four walks and six runs scored...in 83 games for the Kernels this season, he is hitting .246 (80-for-325) with 18 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs, 51 RBI and 43 runs scored...the Tennessee native was drafted by the Twins in the 12th round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Vanderbilt University.

Triple-A Rochester left-handed pitcher Andrew Albers is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Albers made two starts for the Red Wings, pitching 15.0 shutout innings, allowing 14 hits, two walks and seven strikeouts... he earned the win last Saturday over Norfolk and again with a 9.0-inning complete game on Thursday vs. Syracuse...he has made 16 starts for the Red Wings this season, going 9-3, 3.14 ERA (97.1 IP, 34 ER) with two complete games, 23 walks and 63 strikeouts...the Saskatchewan native is in his second stint with the Twins organization after signing a minor league contract in late April.

Single-A Cedar Rapids left-handed pitcher Lachlan Wells is the Twins minor league Player of the Week...Wells made one starts for the Kernels on Monday against Dayton, pitching 8.0 shutout innings with two hits allowed, one walk and nine strikeouts, earning the win...Wells has made six starts for the Kernels, going 3-2, 1.57 ERA (34.1 IP, 6 ER) with six walks and 29 strikeouts...he was signed as an undrafted free agent August 11, 2014 out of Newcastle, Australia.
