USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 It's almost time...the 2016 season will be on us before we know it.Like last year, we're asking game thread fans to help us out by starting game threads. Like last year, Riverbrian will take care of all the series openers, leaving the rest of us in awe...and responsible for the remaining games in each series. If you want to help, we ask only a couple things:1. If you volunteer, please follow through. (Or contact me as far in advance as possible so I can arrange for another person to start the thread.)2. Have the game thread up at least 2 hours before game time, including lineups.3. If you can't include the lineups when you post the game thread, come back later and add another post with just the lineups.4. We like positivity.5. Funny is great. Innovative is great. But they are not requirements. You are only limited by your imagination. FWIW, last year's volunteers did an absolutely fantastic job.6. Length is up to you...but it's not necessary to create an opus. Use the following format for the thread title:(home) Game Thread: Twins vs XXX, 4/1/16 @ 7:10 PM CT(away) Game Thread: Twins @ XXX, 4/1/16 @ 8:10 PM CT7. Have fun.8. If you make jokes about old age, expect retaliation.Notes:Lineups are available at several places: see posts below for specific sites. Or just google "Daily MLB lineups" for help. You won't be able to edit your original post, so make sure you have it the way you want in when you hit "post." You also will need to add a second post to add lineups if they're not in your original thread starter. Please do not volunteer in this thread. This thread is for questions, ideas, etc. To volunteer, pick out the game(s) you want, then send a PM to USAFChief. You'll hear back from me, letting you know the game(s) is yours to do.Below you'll find a list of games still in need of a volunteer.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 Game thread vols needed for: Sunday, Oct 2
Blake Verified Member Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I thought my rookie season went well. Now to see if I can avoid the dreaded sophomore slump.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 There are a few places to get lineups, the fishwap writers usually post them on twitter the soonest. If you're not on twitter then this website gets em up pretty quick too: www.baseballpress.com/lineups

I don't follow Twitter at all so I always got them online and that one was my first stop as they most often had them first, but not always. I also used: http://mlbstartingnine.comhttp://www.rotowire.com/baseball/daily_lineups.htmhttp://www.fantasyalarm.com/lineups/mlb/

Just curious if 2 game threads means I get to keep my rookie status heading into this year....

Just curious if 2 game threads means I get to keep my rookie status heading into this year.... We'll discuss. In the meantime, I suggest you come to opening day in the best shape of your life, work hard to make the GT team, worry about the things you can control, accept whatever role management decides is best for the team, and take it one game thread at a time. That way, the awards will take care of themselves.

So yeah, I'm ready....If management goes against what I believe my role will be, well, you'll be reading a prepared statement from my agent and "explore the options".... I hear DiamondbacksDaily.com is hiring!

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Know your role, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. How's that for negotiating?So........ see you bright and early on Monday, boss? I'll bring the coffee!
Blake Verified Member Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Guys, I thought the insults were reserved for insulting the White Sox in game threads. Or is this the warm up for the real thing?
Blake Verified Member Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 So........ see you bright and early on Monday, boss? I'll bring the coffee! You would bring coffee to a game thread? Heathen. Beer. Still a rookie, I see.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Know your role, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. How's that for negotiating?But... but... um... my role is a door stop. Always good to have a stopper.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 You would bring coffee to a game thread? Heathen. Beer. Still a rookie, I see.Meh. I walked around the minor league practice fields today with a large latte in hand. Hardly heathenistic.
Blake Verified Member Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Meh. I walked around the minor league practice fields today with a large latte in hand. Hardly heathenistic.Tweet, foul, undue celebration..rubbing in the fact you're at spring training while the rest of us slave away..

MindFreak Provisional Member Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Speaking of game threads, either i'm blind or something, but i don't see one for tonight's 5/4 game..

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 HEY! I'm lookin' at YOU, troop! I need volunteers, RIGHT NOW! So suck in that gut, stick out that chin, and take one step forward, meat. And take an iron to that uniform, while you're at it!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 No one seems to be signed up today to do the game thread. So ... first come, first serve ... just go out to the main forum and click on the small, black box that says 'Start New Topic' and have at it! Otherwise you might get stuck with me again. Or nothing, which would be equally bad.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Again, I see we don't have a game thread volunteer for tonight and tomorrow. If someone wants to jump in today, great. First thread up takes it. If you want to volunteer for tomorrow, send Chief a PM.
jimmer Verified Member Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Anyone signed up to do tomorrow's game thread (Sept 16th)?
