  1. So, with Polanco going on the bereavement list, who comes up? I wouldn't say that Vielma is an automatic call up. Could be Vargas. If Rosario has an extended outing, his reward might be being optioned out. He might anyway. The Twins likely will need at least one fresh arm tomorrow. Frankly, at this point the Twins have to expect a short start from everyone.
  2. And even he has been less than reliable his last 4 or 5 starts.
  3. Bremer is just flapping his gums. I don't think the Twins have any intention on letting Rosario start again. Anywhere.
  4. One more three run homer coming? Is Paul going to get someone warming up?
  5. For one brief moment, victory was within our grasp... ...and then the game started.
  6. Reminiscient of the last two starts by Lachlan Wells. Although I think only one walk in each of them. First inning three run homers though.
  7. From less than hit per inning to almost 2 per. From about 8 k per 9 to 3 per 9. From 3 BB per 9 to 7. From 1 HR per 12 IP to 1 every 3 IP. I can't think of anyone going that bad that sudden without being hurt. Even someone tipping pitches wouldn't go that bad. Velocity isn't always a tell. Accuracy and movement would be better indicators. Obviously, you need eyes on the guy to see it.
  8. With a fall off like Dyson has seen, I would suspect an undiagnosed injury. Buyer beware.
  9. Ryan Pressly walked two in his two inning stint for the Red Wings today. 28 pitches. 15 strikes. *sigh*
  10. Perhaps this is picking nits, but I guess I would rank a .906 OPS from a SS ahead of a .888 from a corner OFer.
  11. Melotakis didn't have a particularly good month. His overall numbers are still excellent. I still think he (and others) should be in AAA. I don't think Melotakis has the ceiling that Rosario has, but I think he can be a useful MLB reliever. He does well against lefties and righties so that is one thing he has that few other lefties in the system have going for them.
  12. My question regarding Romero would be what are your future plans? If you plan to have him be a starter, IMO having him pitch in the pen this year (or any year) would be an enormous mistake. There's plenty of speculation that going back and forth contributed to May's injury. Romero already has injury history. If he's going to be a starter in the future, keep him starting.
  13. Robinson was over to the right by 15 feet.
  14. lol, you hear that about Rosario? Weather and mechanical issues have delayed him. He's still in the air. Bremer, of course with the flub saying the Twins were about as far from Rochester as they can be. Rosario came from wherever Chattanooga was.
  15. I still believe his problems can be directly linked to his workload in the first half of :015 and 2016. I have a longer breakdown somewhere, but the gist is that in a two month period in 2015 Pressly appeared in 27 games and then went on the DL. In the first 86 team games of 2016, he appeared in 44. And then after that just 28 out of the final 76, because he just wasn't the same. I don't know if he is actually injured or if Molitor literally used all the bullets Pressly had. But, yeah, Pressly has been overworked beyond any reasonable usage, two years in a row. And now, I fear, he and the Twins are seeing the consequences.
  16. It probably is a product of deception. That doesn't mean it won't play at the MLB level.
  17. You say that like it's a bad thing. I'd be pretty ecstatic if Hildenberger had a career like Bradford's or Neshek's. Hildenberger is already 26. He's only been in AAA for a couple months but that is largely because he's been slow-tracked at every step. He was in low A too long in 2015 and was in AA too long last year. At every step, his numbers have been solid to eye popping. I don't think he needs any additional seasoning. He's as ready as he's ever going to be IMO.
  18. The reality is that the bullpen is the area that is trending most poorly right now.
  19. Hildenberger remains an obvious call up option. Will his deceptive delivery play against MLB hitters? Don't know. But frankly he's earned a shot. If he hadn't thrown 2 2/3 IP on Saturday, he might have been called up yesterday. I would have no issues sending Pressly down and calling Hildenberger up. Among the candidates for removal from the 40 man are Tepesch, Rucinski and Haley. Although not sure they can "send back" Haley while he's on the DL. My guess is no, since it would effectively be an "outright" assignment.
