    Good to see Vargas have success from the starboard side. Switch hitters with power are an extremely rare commodity.

    I don't know that I agree with that. The common held belief is that Granite is most likely a role player at the MLB level. He's only a year younger than Rosario and older than Kepler and Buxton. No problem IMO calling him up to be a reserve player.

    Primarily because he lacks power. Not only will he never hit 3 HR in a game. That might be more than a full season's worth.

    I guess I never noticed before how far Rosario is from the plate. That would leave him vulnerable to pitches on the outside edge.

    I'm not sure they still do this, but I remember years ago a story about the Japanese league. If a televised game went past it's allotted time, the broadcast was over. The league made sure that didn't happen very often. That's what it will take for things to really change here. The broadcasters will have to demand change.

    I have no idea how that is possibly ruled a hit. An on target throw gets him. Why even have fielding stats? I'm kinda curious to know- if anyone does. How do advanced fielding metrics handle that?

    Stunned that Molitor is using Busenitz in a high leverage spot. Happy, but stunned.

    Just to be clear, Santana is not a free agent after 2018. He has an option that vests if he reaches 400 IP in 2017 and 2018 combined, provided he gets to 200 IP in 2018. He also has to pass a physical. Follow that? There will be a quiz later.

    I tend to believe that if there were quality pitchers available that fell into the Twins price range (in terms of pieces to give up to get them) that those deals would have been made already.

    If the Sox sweep the Twins, the Twins would likely be 1/2 game ahead of last in the division. Sure, Santana and Berrios give them a chance. But this team couldn't hit their way out of a paper bag right now.

    If Mejia had started game one, Busenitz would have had to have been sent down after game one to make room for Wilk.

    Who are these better pitchers that you apparently believe were just sitting around waiting for the Twins to call? Just to reiterate, the top free agent starting pitcher this past offseason was Bartolo Colon. It's not like releasing Hughes was a realistic option. With him ending last season on the DL, I'm not even sure it was a "legal" option. It's really somewhat irrelevant how effective Hughes was or how lucky. Given his contract status, he was going and IS going to be in the rotation as long as he is physically able to pitch at all.

    Damn. Not sure what to think about Turley. He lacks movement on his pitches. Hard to figure out how that explains his K per 9 in AAA. The Indians are just teeing off on him.

    I'm not discarding them. The post I replied to said that it was OBVIOUS that Hughes should not have been in the rotation to start the season. He had a serviceable first month. So, how exactly was it obvious? PS: You have yet to respond to the rest of the post. What was the alternative?
