  1. Does Gibson make it out of the 4th tonight? My vote is no.
  2. Would Mauer playing against a pitcher that he is 0 for 12 against really be an improvement offensively? Defensively, sure.
  3. Earth to Kyle. Are you awake?
  4. Maybe the Twins will need 8 relievers tonight. Looks like The Dark Side of Kyle is pitching tonight.
  5. He knew Sano got hit on the hand twice in the last week. Pretty safe assumption that we was a no go today and probably tomorrow. Don't need to be Ms. Cleo. Just need common sense.
  6. If tonight's lineup isn't a clear example of Falvey and Molitor not seeing eye to eye, I don't know what is. Falvey knew Hammels was pitching. He knew Sano was hurt. Not getting Garver or Vargas up here is inexcusable.
  7. See LA Vikes Fan's post. Molitor literally had few good choices. Vargas should have replaced one of the 8 relievers that have thrown a grand total of 8 innings this week.
  8. Playing the players Falvine provided.
  9. Actually, a rain out might be exactly what the Twins need tonight.
  10. Ground ball pitcher for the Twins. Yes, let's put a guy at first who has played there a grand total of 11 innings as a professional and just 2 in the last 4 years. Falvey and Levine knew Sano was hurt. They knew a lefty was pitching tonight. They don't bring up Garver or Vargas, why exactly? These are the guys that many say we as fans are supposed to blindly trust. I'm sorry. Tonight's lineup is an absolute insult to everyone who bought a ticket.
  11. He did bat him third regularly.
  12. I was going to add that not having Granite isn't a big deal. But why not bring up Garver or even Vargas? Give the manager an actual bench.
  13. It seems odd to me to go back to 13 pitchers when only 3 relievers have thrown more than 5 pitches since Sunday.
  14. Exactly. So how does that mantle automatically fall to Dozier after the abdication of that role by Mauer?
  15. Umm, how is Dozier the veteran clubhouse leader? Pretty sure Mauer has double the MLB experience.
  16. It comes back to roster decisions made last November. Literally, the first decisions made by Falvine. The decision was to start the offseason with only 8 starting pitchers on the 40 man (counting May AND Duffey) who had ever pitched above AA. Santana, Santiago, Hughes, Gibson, May, Mejia, Duffey and Berrios. Given the health and performances of those 8 in 2016, that was shortsighted to say the least. Injuries and unexpected poor performance are part of baseball. Although, I don't consider the poor performances by any of the pitchers to be "unexpected". Point being if your plan is to only use guys from the 40 man to help, you better be sure those guys CAN help. Like I said, no plan from day one.
  17. The Twins have shuttled guys on and off the 40 man all year. Jorge was a CHOICE.
  18. We have different opinions of what "fine" is. For his first MLB start, it wasn't abysmal. But I don't think it warranted another start with other choices available on a team that was still in first place at the time. It all comes back to the lack of direction by the front office from day one. They literally didn't decide if this team was a contender or not until July 29. All season long they have made moves that if taken by themselves indicate trying to contend. But there were others, like using Jorge, that indicate a rebuild effort. There was no cohesive plan that they stuck to.
  19. They still had other choices. They chose Jorge. Twice. Anyway you (and the FO) spins it, it still indicates that they felt he was ready.
  20. I'm talking about Felix Jorge.
  21. It would certainly indicate that Garver has good insticts and savvy behind the dish. Can't really teach that. He really hasn't caught that many games as a pro for a guy his age. If there are flaws in his set up or footwork, they can probably be fixed. But it seems that he clearly knows what he is doing back there.
  22. The word from the insiders on this site at the beginning of the season indicated that Buxton third was a Falvey dictum. If the logic is that the Twins aren't bringing up Gonsalves, etc because the FO feels they aren't ready then the same logic indicates that Jorge was brought up because the thought was he was ready. You are trying to have it both ways. That whiffs of towing the company line.
  23. These same talent evaluators felt Felix Jorge was ready and that Byron Buxton was a good fit for the 3 spot. What makes their judgement beyond reproach?
  24. It has certainly been said in other posts. I can't even count how many DFA/phantom DL Polanco posts I've seen. Plenty of calls for Buxton to get sent down as late as June as well.
