  1. Gotta know who’s pitching. The ump isn’t going to squeeze Verlander.
  2. We are 67 during the day in winter, 62 at night (thermostat downstairs, bedroom upstairs). We have daycare in the house during the day, so we have to maintain a minimum of 65. In the summer it is generally set to 74 days and 72 at night. If it isn’t too humid though, we’ll shut it off and open windows.
  3. Not that I believe gameday is gospel, but they posted consecutive pitches by Lynn at 88 MPH. One they called a change up, the other a two seam fastball. If that isn’t wrong, that’s concerning to say the least.
  4. That’s okay. From what I understand, Boy George swings his tail in both directions anyway...
  5. It would be unlucky if your wedding was scheduled to be outside. Or, if you wanted some pictures outside. No reason they wouldn’t play IMO. They are probably regretting the decision to have this be a night game though.
  6. Rain on your wedding day would be bad luck. Rain on your wedding day after a week of sunshine filled days would be ironic.
  7. This, exactly Sure, Fernando Romero is waiting. But his IP will likely be limited again this year anyway. (150 or so probably). So, it’s not a big deal if he gets a late start. Like to see Gonsalves get 160 at least this year.
  8. I don’t know. Owners are hiring analytical baseball minds more and more. Presumably that means they are listening to what they are saying. If enough of them convince ownership that the product will be better with a couple more guys, they’ll buy it and pony up the money to make it happen. The two extra guys are likely to be lower salary. Like maybe in the $ 2 mil avg range. So, $4 mil extra per team. MLB hauled in $10 bil in 2016. I think they can spare some especially if it will make the product better and generate even more.
  9. I think the next time the CBA comes up roster sizes will increase. It’s time. Would you believe that the roster size has been 25 since 1914? Hard to imagine what they did with all those guys. Teams only needed maybe 8 pitchers all year. The 1914 Senators had 7 pitchers that appeared in more than 5 games. What I think might happen is that teams will have still have 25 for any given game, but perhaps a “taxi squad” of maybe two more players that can be changed daily. Logically, those will be starting pitchers who just pitched. Service time would still be acrued on the taxi squad.
  10. One could have made an argument that Baddoo went out of the base line to avoid the tag. It was borderline.
  11. Or, he could never figure out lhp and be a role player in an era when role players are nearly extinct.
  12. Former Twin David McCarty threw left and batted right. Several former pitchers did, of course almost none of them got 100 at bats, let alone 1000. Charlie Leibrandt threw left and batted right.
  13. Really, what kind of offers had any of them earned after last year? Even at this point, there are an awful lot of questions about all of them.
  14. Without looking at actual game by game attendance data, I’d wager attendance is actually better during the weekday day games. There certainly aren’t going to be many families out until 10:30 on a school night. There’s a reason they call those games “business man’s specials”. I suspect there might be some dealing going on over beers, brats and baseball.
  15. Not if the lefties actually hit lhp. Rosario has been fine in that regard. Kepler got off to a good start. For his career, Morrison hits rhp for more power, but avg is about the same. And against lefty starters, his numbers are better yet. Point being, he isn’t an automatic out vs lhp either.
  16. Looks like Kyle has returned to the Dark Side. Everything is being left up.
  17. Why wouldn’t Sano go to second to try to get 2?
  18. I still remember former Phillie manager Jim Fregosi saying of Mitch Williams, “Mitch doesn’t have ulcers, but he is a carrier.”
  19. It does seem odd to throw Reed and now Rodney with a 4 run lead. But consider: Rodney did not pitch Monday. Reed did, so having him pitch was an iffy choice. Yesterday the Twins were off. They are also off Friday. Worst case they pitch consecutive days and then get a day off.
  20. Hmm, stealing in the 9th with a 4 run lead. Borderline.
