  1. I’m not sure what Minnespolis got for snow in March. Winona got about 3 inches. We got about 9 since yesterday. There are expected to be several new record lows recorded in the next few days, with overnight lows in the teens and single digits. Not temperatures below average. Temperatures below RECORD LOWS. The weather this week isn’t just bad, it is historically poor. **** happens. Deal with it as best as possible and move on. btw, in 1991 the daily highs for April 5, 6 and 7 were set in Minneapolis: in the 80s.
  2. Sounds to me like the huff you are making is more than the huff they made. They made a comment about the play, period. There was no reporting that I have seen that they made it out to be the most egregious breakage of baseball ettiquette in history. It was more than likely one of many comments made by all 3 players. As to why their other comments weren’t reported, you would have to ask the journalists in attendance.
  3. Most of the snow will melt before Thursday. Certainly it won’t be on the playing field. Removing it from the stands may prove more difficult. Ordinarily, they would just hose them down. It probably won’t be above freezing tomorrow in Minneapolis though, so that may not work.
  4. Somehow, they aren’t entitled to an opinion? Just because it may be misguided, doesn’t mean they aren’t allowed to hold a different opinion. Respectful disagreement is one of the indicators of a free society.
  5. First of all, it would be 4 home games eliminated, not 8. Second, as I said the games to eliminate are the ones midweek while school is in session because those games already draw poorly. The lost revenue would probably be under $4 mil for teams that are making $300 mil or more in some cases. But, of course, your costs are lowered too. 4 fewer days to pay ushers, security, custodians and other “behind the scenes” gameday personnel. 4 fewer nights where the lights need to be on. 4 fewer days of flushed toilets.
  6. Exactly. Just scheduling 3 home double headers in June, July and August. All teams would play 6 total. That works out to one every other week during the summer months. And going to 154 games would essentially eliminate 7 midweek home dates. 2 in April, 2 in May, 3 in September. Those months always have a hard time drawing midweek because kids are still in school. Bob Costas was a big supporter of shortening up the schedule and double headers. If you ever read his book he talks about his ideas (Fair Ball I think). Maybe he should have been made commisioner all those years ago...
  7. Exactamundo. Opening Day was March 29. That’s insane for anywhere except southern California, Atlanta, Arizona, Texas or Florida. They should be able to get 162 games scheduled with adequate days off in the 183 days that comprise April, May, June, July, August and September.
  8. Remember, the Twins were better on the road than at home last year.
  9. I hope one of the new spaces is a warming house...
  10. Located in the state of Expectoration, right?
  11. There’s an open space on the bench that Harrison can now grab.
  12. Rosario is seriously the most brain dead player in mlb. Isn’t taking a pitch after the last guy walked almost automatic?
  13. That’s a Phil Collins song, right?
  14. The former is a walking tour, the latter is by air...
  15. So, I’ll ask again, what does Duke bring to the table that Ryan O’Rourke did not? So far, not impressed.
  16. Nice sacrifice fly there by Mauer.
  17. So, what aren’t we supposed to ask the new Pirate pitcher about?
  18. More of that vs lhp by Kepler please.
  19. That’s 6. Is anyone even warming up?
  20. He’s also on pace for 80 HR.
  21. Ok. 5 walks. I’d say that’s enough for today. Over 70 pitches.
