  1. And the 5 ERA he posted in AA last year and the 7.4 in AAA the year before that. There’s a reason the guy was available. He isn’t very good.
  2. I know what you mean. A couple years ago my wife and I were channel surfing. We stumbled on to the movie “Unstoppable” with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. Couldn’t. Turn. Channel.
  3. It would seem that Molitor’s feelings more closely align with Kinley’s results.
  4. I sense sarcasm. However. Didn’t Busenitz throw 20 pitches yesterday?
  5. Don’t get this. Pretty obvious the Twins aren’t interested in scoring tonight. Why burn another reliever?
  6. I don’t think it is a coincidence that Fernando Romero started yesterday for AAA. If after 2 or MAYBE 3 more Hughes starts the results are as we expect, a swap out becomes pretty easy.
  7. Grossman has a career SLG of of .370 or so. He doesn’t play even passable defense. He certainly isn’t a plus baserunner. Literally, the only baseball skill he has involves not swinging the bat. And he has started almost HALF the Twins games.
  8. I also believe in facts. Bench players don’t START half the team’s games.
  9. You keep calling Grossman a bench player. He’s started almost half the team’s games. I get that most of that is Buxton’s migraines, but therein lies the problem. He’s not good enough to be starting more than once a week. That’s the difference between the Twins and the Yankees. Not long ago, the Yankees had Ellsbury, Hicks and another OFer on the DL but were still able to trot out Judge, Stanton and Gardner. A Twins OFer gets hurt and the choices are LaMarre, Grossman, Granite or Adrianza.
  10. Further fall out from Hughes’ short start is that 4 relievers threw at least 19 pitches yesterday. The ones that did not were Kinley, Hildenberger, Duke and Rodney. Kinda surprised they didn’t shuffle Busenitz out and bring up a fresh Tyler Duffey or someone else. Going to need Odorizzi to provide some innings, always a challenge against the always patient Yankee lineup.
  11. Re: Lucky Charms cereal that is just marshmallows. I heard a blurb on the radio the other day saying such a product was available. No idea where, but hey...
  12. That would be fine if the Twins only needed one piece. The problem is there are a lot of pieces struggling right now. Other than Berrios, no starter is doing that great. Other than Reed and Pressly, the pen is pretty bad. The lineup has been inconsistent, which is not unexpected given that the core is still relatively inexperienced. The Twins can’t acquire 2 starters, 3 relievers, and at least one bat during the season. They lack the assets.
  13. Also, Granite is injured. So, calling him up wouldn’t accomplish much.
  14. Oh, I’m not surprised the Twins under Ryan were overly impressed with his success as a pitch to contact type. Just surprised that no one on this forum mentioned it.
  15. Since 2016 (when Rogers came in to the league) Rogers has a lower OPS vs LHB than Duke. Rogers career mark is .556. Duke over the last two plus seasons has posted over .600 vs LHB. And Rogers is 8 years younger.
  16. I find it interesting that literally no one commented about the type of pitcher Hughes is. Even at his absolute BEST, he gave up more than a hit per inning and had a decent, but certainly not great K rate. Kind of seems odd in this era of analytics. Like I said in other threads, the board I was on most often at the time no longer exists. So, I couldn’t pull up my thoughts even if I wanted too. But I know I was thinking that it didn’t say much about the organization’s opinion on their own highly touted pitching prospects. The reason this extension was done was because of the failure of the organization to develop almost any above average starting pitcher for more than 3 years over the previous decade plus. The only one was Scott Baker, who was BARELY above average in terms of ERA+. If a team can’t develop it’s own pitchers it is forced to overpay a Ricky Nolasco and over-reward a Phil Hughes.
  17. I say I’d rather not have a guy who’s allowed 4 HR to the 50 odd hitters he’s faced.
  18. So is Grossman now too (from the other direction).
  19. Like Casey Kasem and the top 40 countdown. The hits just keep coming.
  20. This is pretty much my first look at Kinley. My very untrained eyes tell me he isn’t able to repeat his motion consistently. Every delivery is different.
  21. For one brief moment, victory was within our grasp. ...And then the game started.
  22. Not anytime soon with Buxton and Granite on the DL.
  23. If for no other reason because he won’t be available tomorrow anywwy.
