  1. May is going to be over 40 pitches. He’ll need two days minimum. Maybe 3. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is replaced with a fresh arm tomorrow. Are Belisle’s 10 days up?
  2. And now leaving May in? 25 pitches not enough? FFS
  3. The game was probably on the line in that inning. Isn’t that the role most envision for May? I’ll grant that Erv should not have started the inning or at least been removed after the lead off hitter reached.
  4. Almost 190 pitches and two hours for 4 1/2 innings.
  5. Didn’t someone mention how May hadn’t walked anyone since his call up in some other thread? So much for that...
  6. Good luck Trev. Bases loaded, no outs. Try not to let anyone score. Worst. Bullpen. Manager. EVER.
  7. 2 of the pitches to Niko were on the edge of the zone per gameday. But, the way Erv has been all over the place, he isn’t going to get the benefit of the doubt.
  8. You can’t stop Logan Forsythe, you can only hope to contain him.
  9. idk, the Tiger relievers seem to be handling the Twins lineup pretty easily.
  10. Like Casey Kasem’s top 20, the hits just keep coming. The big question now is will Erv make it through 5.
  11. Ummmm, huh? How is he supposed to prove he can do it against MLB pitchers without coming up?
  12. The umpiring ranks need pruning. Diaz is on the top 10 of those that need to go.
  13. Meh. Erv was pretty mediocre then. I was trying to pick a year when both were pretty good.
  14. This would have been a great pitcher’s duel. 5 years ago.
  15. So, if Clayton Kershaw is a pipe dream, how realistic would Dallas Keuchel be? Obviously a step below Kershaw, but who isn’t? He’s still very good.
  16. Twins rank 9th in AL for starters ERA. No upgrade needed? The 5 playoff teams will likely all rank in the top 6. Three AL teams have starters’ ERA under 3.55, about .8 lower than the Twins. If your goal is competitive mediocrity, no upgrade is needed. If your goal is a championship, an upgrade is most definitely needed. Acquiring said upgrade will not be an easy task, but IMO it should definitely be an offseason goal. Maybe not top priority, but second or third. My priorities would be 1) third base or second base 2) top bullpen arm, perhaps a closer, but am open minded regarding roles 3) top of rotation starter in my pipe dream 4) first base/designated hitter
  17. This is Rosario’s second off day since Saturday. In a week with a scheduled day off. Like to know the rationale for that. Maybe a few more off days in July would have slowed down his slump. He’s been pretty decent so far in August.
  18. According to my facebook feed, it was 7 years ago today that Jim Thome hit career HR # 600, while wearing a Twins uniform.
  19. In the two seaons before Soler’s 36 OPS+, he posted 99 and 103. Both higher than Buxton at his best. By the way, Buxton’s OPS+ is 5 this year. 5. They may settle somewhere, but I’d be surprised if the Twins submit a figure over $1 mil. He has been beyond terrible when he has played. He hasn’t played much. And his offense has been below league average - most of the time WAY below - his entire career. IMO, a good comp for Buxton right now is Peter Bourjos at the time of his first arb go around. Bourjos had one season with an oWAR of 3.9. Other than that, pretty bad, but always above zero (Buxton has had TWO negative oWAR seasons). However, Bourjos had 3 seasons with a dWAR of .9 or better. Buxton so far has had just one. Bourjos received $1.2 mil just 4 years ago. IMO just as elite a defender who was slightly better offensively.
  20. Franco played 150 plus games and had 600 plus PA. Buxton is sitting under 30 games and 100 PA. In other words, he’s been hurt or in the minors all year. Trevor May got $650 K this year with over 3 years service time.
  21. That seems extremely high to me. I’d be surprised if it was $1 mil.
