  1. I can speak to my career field with a pretty good degree of authority but Front Office major league baseball decisions.... ehhhh, not so much. Even with that established though, the FO made 100% the right decision in not protecting Baddoo in my opinion. A team only has the 40 slots that they can protect and that often leaves hard choices to make. However I would think that Baddoo wasn't a hard choice in that he had no track record in MiLB and was buried on the depth chart for the Twins. Was it a gamble? Yes of course it was, but one that I would make 100 out of 100 times and probably so would 90% of the rest of the league. We also have to look at who took a flyer on him, the Detroit Tigers. The major league roster was seriously depleted of front line talent and their minor system was exhausted. Why wouldn't they take a shot at him, they had absolutely nothing to loose (same with Tyler Wells and Baltimore).
  2. Ok, thanks with that one. Way to go and remember the super feel good story about not only a Michigan pitcher succeeding, but making good on the biggest stage. Thanks, now I feel like a total jerk... ?
  3. I applaud your dedication to this monumental task good Sir! Huzzah! Huzzah I say!!!
  4. Well with Lawrence no longer there, maybe his chances were greater at playing time. Hard to say though, but the kid is a heck of an athlete.
  5. I would bet even money that you are correct, but I had forgotten that he was also committed to play football for Clemson. Not that Bucs couldn't pry him away, but my (exceptionally) uneducated feeling is that they would have to go a good bit over slot value to do so. ?‍♂️
  6. Interesting to see Chandler go to the Bucs at the start of round 3. I have a feeling though that he will likely follow through with his commit to Clemson.
  7. Just ones that go to Michag... oops ?. All kidding aside, I'm sure the young man will be fine and good luck to him on the next stage of his journey.
  8. Very true, I had forgotten about the football option.
  9. - Jaden Hill could be an interesting pick for #61 (he looked good in the CWS if he's who I'm thinking of). - I'm also pretty sold on Bubba Chandler, very solid player from what I've heard of him and put up good numbers against some very solid competition in GA this year.
  10. Ehhhh.... not so much perhaps. Holland and Gary are both very good players and tremendous athletes. They were good picks then and still are. Whether or not they are able to make the majors is in many ways irrelevant.
  11. He’ll be fine, he’s a rookie and rookies (as well as all players for that matter) go through theses stretches.
  12. That being said... this kid is pretty good. Should be really fun to watch him progress and grow over the next few years.
  13. It's understandable. HS kids come with a lot of question marks, even the ones that ooze talent.
  14. One would hope they have at least had some prelim talks. Most of the time, they have at least sent out some feelers to see which way the kid is leaning.
  15. Not really. This kid is pretty good.
  16. Then again, he is a pitcher (my son) so it makes sense
  17. Well, my son just went "Whoa! Chase Petty?! The Twins actually just got Chase Petty?"
  18. Here's hoping (personally) that the Twins draft a college arm in the first round. Just feel that there is enough of them to warrant the pick, however I am biased toward House out of Winder-Barrow HS (for the guys off this list). He's a legit talent who almost singlehandedly carried his team deep into the state playoffs this year.
  19. Great write up Seth. Love hearing and reading about these guys.
  20. All good, totally understand the sentiment. Perhaps my fatal Twins fan flaw is that I'm an eternal optimist ?.
  21. I know the Twins are in the midst of a pretty awful season, but why would you say that about this kid? The odds are already stacked against all these young men... I won't ever say you can't say that or shouldn't think that way but, naysaying their dreams seems awful harsh just because management may have made some questionable decisions.
  22. Nice write up Andrew, TY. There is a ton of talent coming out of Georgia this year, both college and HS. Don't know if the Twins will be able to snag any of it, but some of these kids are truly legit talents on both sides of the ball. You may very well see two kids from the same HS (Buford) get drafted if teams feel that they can pull them away from their college commits.
  23. Totally agree with the sentiment. However, while I would love to see a promotion to AAA and feel that he has done nothing to dissuade that thought, it's not really hurting him to continue to pitch at AA. My (grossly uneducated) opinion is that we will most likely see a second half move up to AAA at some point, but if I remember correctly Winder isn't currently on the 40 man roster so where he throws his innings shouldn't matter as much. But then I am wrong as often (or more) than I am right so we shall see ?‍♂️?
  24. Not disagreeing with the pretty obvious correlation that Buck isn't directly responsible for some of his injuries. But it's baseball , and I've seen plenty of guys do similar actions (at multiple levels - HS, college, professional) and not get hurt nearly as bad as Buxton has. Sometimes guys are just unlucky.
