  1. Better Half is out of town. 2 crappy teams on a Thursday night. Scored a cheaper ticket in section 111 on the aisle. What could go wrong? Erv kinda put a damper on my night. Not even through the 6th.
  2. And it only took 4 hours and 20 minutes.
  3. Holy cow. I left in the middle of the 10th to do the dishes, take out the garbage and recycling and refill my drink, fully expecting that MLB.com would be showing "Thank you for watching" on my screen when I came back. Nope, get back and Polanco walks and Kep gets hit. Now this. Wow. Gotta fill my drink again.
  4. Heh. I had to look up Ronda Rousey and I still don’t know what this means.
  5. Pffft. When my daughter was up from Madison we watched 4 in a row.
  6. Dang. Tonight the better half wanted to watch the last two episodes of Queer Eye. I thought, “Ok, Red Sox. Won last night. What are the chances we take two in a row from them?” Finished the episodes. Liked them. Went to make my lunch for tomorrow and started listening to the game. Sheesh. Our Fair Team up by 2. Pulled up the game thread and see Blazing Saddles. I know how to miss the really good stuff.
  7. Long ago when my children were in pre-school, they would bring home a large paper cut out of a person called Flat Stanley. They would bring Flat Stanley home, and take him along on family activities and then go back to pre-school with the stories of what Flat Stanley did when he was with us. I hadn't thought about Flat Stanley for decades until I started watching Our Fair Team on the teevee and seeing Gibby walk off the mound. He is flat. This has nothing to do with his pitching or his effectivenes He is flat. That is all.
  8. I don't know how many people have told me that they can't watch baseball because it's too "boring." I started watching this game in the 3rd inning and saw Our Fair Team fall behind 8 to nothing. And yet I persisted. I kept watching because though my team was getting whomped, I could still watch the pitcher/batter duel which can be enjoyed despite the score. And now my team has rewarded me. Mmmm Baseball.
  9. Most likely I’ll go back to lurking and enjoying the threads. I’m not too clever.
  10. Thank you for this. Long-time lurker here. Last game thread I followed, I kept hearing Rodney Dangerfield's voice, "Tough crowd, tough crowd." I wasn't going to abandon the threads, but man I wasn't enjoying them as much. Started reading through this thread and it made me happy. Like reading a Kevin Kling story.
