  1. Twins offense has been offensively stinky.
  2. I thought the best were supposed to be on exhibit opening day. Laz Diaz does not qualify by any stretch of the mind for ‘the best’.
  3. Looks like Stewart for the 8th and Jax for the 9th.
  4. Overturned home runs at Yankee stadium.
  5. Maybe our definition of extort is different. I see quotes about not being competitive, but no threats of pulling up the team and leaving. I am sure it could create some problems, but leaving an entire city without a major sports team I see as a problem that has already happened. i think the whole industry of entertainment is out of whack with the average person. Yes, owners have created a problem, but I think players are part of the problem as well. I think this symbiosis of greed has only one ending point….failure and collapse. I don’t think either side cares about the fans, only what they can get.
  6. I see the CEO play scale as wrong, same as players, ticket price, and team value. has Green Bay extorted the public? Or are we talking about government institutions since there isn’t really any proof of that concept. isnt communism parity? That’s my beef, a league that scream parity has no interest in parity. Otherwise it wouldn’t complain about low tv interest after the World Series. i do believe in free market, however, I want to call a wolf a wolf in this situation, no matter the situation - especially when the owners have extorted the public for money already.
  7. They generate some of the money, however, some of it is extorted from the public. Public money for a stadium is terrible - especially when ticket prices increased 300% for that said stadium. teams should be publicly owned. I would love to see graphs showing baseball salary increase with common person wages increases.
  8. At whose expense? They’ve rigged it to come at the fans expense. If you think they are taking it to the ‘man’, you are unfortunately incorrect. They are all taking it to us. Publicly funded stadiums, expensive tickets, and food prices way out of whack with reality show how disconnected they all are with us. Millionaires vs billionaires….they are both wrong. I honestly hope the whole system burns down so we can remake it with publicly owned teams and players who do not own a massive mansion and sports cars while the common person struggles to afford groceries and gas.
  9. And baseball wonders why it is regional and not national. It complained about ratings for the World Series with the 4th largest market in the U.S. Meanwhile, regional networks pull money from other teams. Manfred has a mess on his hands. Not a national game anymore.
  10. Seems like some games are umpires making ******* up. Difference is, umpires are paid well and need accountability.
  11. Vasquez needs to sit. Pinch hit for him more than Julien and wallner.
  12. You forgot Benj Sampson.
  13. What if 11 mil is market for a good reliever at this point?
  14. I’m ready to pivot too. I’ve been a diehard fan since 1987 (12 yrs old). I went to games in the late 90s where there were less than 10,000 people in the stands. We used to budget one family game a month - for affordability. Now it just isn’t worth it. The cost to experience ratio is way off and the Twins better start listening to their fans before it is too late. What is the financial level where they cannot afford to run Target Field anymore? So to the point, I just can’t take it anymore. I’d probably go with the Cardinals. They seem to try on a consistent basis.
  15. Can we just use the money lost out on Correa on: Giving big contracts to Guardian/Dodger/Ray scouting and development people Raising the pay scale of our minor leagues so that international players are more likely to sign with us (50,000 ones, not big ones) We are never going to play/pay with the big boys, so why not be creative on how we spend the money and not be used for emotional leverage again?
  16. Very true. However, this sort of thing cannot be normalized from the Twins perspective. If it were Philly or New York, umpires would be punished by the crowd and fans. There cannot be multiple sets of rules based on fan reaction - the MLB umpires need to pony up and say they messed up. Otherwise the silence emanating from them implies they had a ‘perfect’ game.
  17. Maybe the air conditioning In the umpires changing room should quit working until an apology from New York happens.
  18. I think that dooms our trading this year. With that high a price tag, the twins might bow out of all trade possibilities… if I were a seller, I’d hold out for something like what they gave up.
  19. Can anyone tell me the twins ERA after Wes Johnson left? And what is our record now since Sano came back?
  20. I guess agree to disagree. edit: to add context. 1991 would answer your question.
  21. Strong division. Not 4 games above 500. They did have at least 2 players that deserved to go and only 1 went.
  22. Totally understand - just quoting ‘experts’ when the twins were in 4th in a strong division.
