  1. Deep Thoughts by Lance Lynn....What do you think about throwing a fastball? https://youtu.be/m5dvlF002mw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5dvlF002mw
  2. New CBA...player cannot be QO'd more than once If it's one and done he goes without compensation...I'm ok with that
  3. Here's Payroll before the soon to be announced Anibel Sanchez release
  4. So...we help pay for and build a new park...Pohlad's take in $51M more in revenue first year at Target Field 1st year of Mauer's big deal is only time 50% payroll threshold has been breached (or remotely approached) They used to get by on $96M after Player Payroll...the last few years it's been $140M I thought recycling rain water and LED lights were supposed to save overhead? And that's not even taking into account the $50M from Bam-BamTech sale to Mickey & Minnie Anyway...Here's a link to another payroll tool Make a copy of it start typing in Lance Lynn and select his name an the out-of-touch with the current market MLBTR projection will fill in 42$14M per (bet Lance would take that in a heartbeat) If you want to enter your own numbers, enter the full number ($14000000 for 14M) and the totals will add up correctly
  5. Here's a look at Twins Payroll...Just shy of $124M with LoMo added...Sanchez $2.5M...and Grossman over Granite for last bench role Clearer view and you can Make a Copy of the Twins Payroll Tool here
  6. Couldn't find (ok, maybe I didn't look very hard (or at all)...someone will have to explain to me how to actually find what your searching for on TD as my experience is that it's great for catching up on 5 year old posts) what was I going to post....yes... Couldn't find the Predict a Twins Starting Pitcher Signing topic so I'll post this here instead... The next big Twins SP signing will be June 4th immediately following the start of the Rule 27 draft (or whatever arcane name/number there is for the Amateur Draft) and the pitcher will be whoever is still not signed by then, contract will be 1 year (actually the rest of the season) for a pro-rated portion of $15M Call it the TR Morales Maneuver This will be followed by a Falvine Flip on July 30th sending the TR Morales Maneuver player to the Yankme's for RHP's Ben Heller and Giovanny Gallegos both of who were 15-0 for Tampa Tarpons (don't get those 3rd consonants mixed up) and Trenton Thunder The boys will use the Falvine Flip along with a mysterious "We Take Care of Our Own" message on the clubhouse whiteboard to rally and secure the 2nd Wild Card...you know the rest
  7. This puts the payroll at $115.5M as is (not counting Sanchez just yet)...how much more do you think the Twins can/will add? Cobb/Lynn at $15M per = $130M payroll? or are they done??
  8. Going back to 2000 here are just a few of the fellas that have started a game for the Twins (Not all, but a large majority were FA acquisitions) How many can you name?
  9. There's still a chance for picking this guy up
  10. This may be a bit of a stretch, but it is still the off season so why not a little extra hyperbole on why the Rays would consider trading Honeywell From KLaw's top 100 review on #15 Brent Honeywell 'He's a different sort of character and was even suspended briefly in late August by the team (not the league) for undisclosed reasons, although the Rays universally praise his competitiveness and work ethic." Here's the reach...there is a precedence for a top 10 ranked prospect being dealt very early in his career Trevor Bauer dealt when he was the #5 ranked mlb prospect for a Swedish 1st Baseman (Lars Anderson) and future Twin Killer Didi G...so there could be a similar situation with a player KLaw begins his report with "Honeywell is "the screwball guy" in both senses of the term"...Rays grow tired of the act and look to move him May be a toilet paper thin correlation...and with 3 days before the 1st workout it's good to have positive negative thoughts going into the season!
  11. Appreciate the discussion on 3 Options, my first intention was to not have to read more D-word posts..Mission Accomplished Maybe a better way to posit this would be to say: Would you rather trade for 4 years of Archer or 6 of someone like Honeywell and what would each take to get? I'm reading it'd take more for Honeywell than for Archer? There's a strong Phil Hughes Odor-with-izzi...might have a year or two of success and then those flyballs start carrying further and further...I agree let's roll with the youngsters instead Would only take Span back if Kepler was sent and it reduced the prospect haul needed...Maybin/Cargo's might be more productive for less than Span in this market If Kepler and Romero get the talks going for Archer, Falvine have to bring that one home no?
  12. Why would the Cubs sign an old guy to a 6 year contract...Because they can Maybe Sano and Kepler are everything they could ever want...worst thing that happens is they say no It's more productive than rehashing missed opportunities What do you think it would take?
  13. How about this for a contingency plan or two or three To start I’m in the “Lewis is Untouchable” camp. I think the Twins should reconnect with the Rays and work out a Garza-Delmonzie type of deal in reverse…Twins get pitching Rays get everyday players Option 1 Twins Get: Honeywell, Span Rays Get: Kepler, Romero Sign: Alex Cobb (MLBTR projection COBB: 4/$12M AAV) 2018 PAYROLL: $129.9M Option 2 Twins Get: Odorizzi, Honeywell, Span Rays Get: Kepler, Romero, Littel/Slegers/Lottery Ticket As shown by the limited addition for Odorizzi I’m not high on him 2018 PAYROLL: $124.2M Option 3 Twins Get: Archer, Honeywell, Span Rays Get: Sano, Kepler, Gordon, Littel/Slegers/Lottery Ticket Sign: (MLBTR projection NUNEZ: 2/$7M AAV MOUSTAKAS:5/$17M AAV) Nunez 2018 PAYROLL: $130.5M or Moustakas 2018 PAYROLL: $140.5M Both of these appear to be an overpay in current market and would expect both to sign for much less All three options include an upgrade in 2018 rotation to varying degrees, future rotations depend on young hurlers Honeywell and Gonslaves 6 years of Honeywell and Gonsalves 4 years of Archer Lots of young guy risk in the rotation...sending Sano could haunt...without landing the "D word" Archer poses best upgrade to top of the rotation (IMO) make a move on him or small increments this year with 2019 rotation adds might be best we can hope for
  14. Was thinking this as well...might even keep Hughes on board if the prospect ransom wasn't too large
  15. Archer, Cobb, JDM...would rid ourselves of Grossman's OBP in favor of a bargain price on Dyson, Maybin or either CarGo (I know it's a lot of wishin' and hopin')
  16. Kepler, Gordon, Romero framework for Archer Take Yu dollars and swoop in on JDM Sign Cobb or Lynn...will post affect on Payroll shortly
  17. I'll start a new thread this week...or is it next week...I can say with 100% certainty it won't be last week
  18. It ain't over til it's over...or until the Big Japanese dude sings (darn auto-correct) signs! What's lost if the Twins wait for Darvish to decide? Better to wait it out and miss out on him then to bail while there's still a Lloyd Christmas chance at signing him Have to believe that Levine doesn't have some assurances from the Darvish team that they will give the Twins a chance to match/beat his bestest offer...if there was no chance they would have moved on to the next piece who of course won't commit until Darvish does for fear of signing at too big a discount...which Falvine already know what that will be because of the aforementioned assurances with Team Darvish I choose to be the blind optimist and just wait for the February 6th (Super Bowl will be old news) Twins presser introducing the newest Twin...
