  1. So that's the secret to success?!
  2. The White Sox sure ain't messin' around.
  3. That's probably a more concise way of putting it. Moving Donaldson makes the most sense to me. Now that Berrios is gone, it would be nice to have at least one guy that you can have reasonable expectations of in the rotation. Dealing Buxton is a rebuild, don't think there's much question about that.
  4. That's getting a little too close to rebuild for my liking. Even if they get an absolutely absurd haul. Though, if they deal Buxton they may as well deal Maeda too.
  5. I'd be disappointed if anyone was penciled into a slot for next year aside from Maeda and any future free agent signings. Beyond that, there's no reason not to have an open competition for the remaining rotation spots. I don't really expect any trade acquisitions to be established enough to warrant it either, but I suppose there is that potential.
  6. That guy gets traded so often he should be listed on the NYSE.
  7. If they're intending on competing, two more would be ideal. If they're looking to build towards 2023, one more should do it. Get the prospects innings.
  8. Sure, and that's 11 games improvement. I said that 10 games seems plausible. And that was based on a team that had already won 101 games. 19 still seems like quite a stretch. And as @Brock Beauchamppointed out, there are lot of other things that go into an improvement like that probably don't get wrapped up in the broad "fundamentals" umbrella.
  9. Right. That's actually why I was interested to hear what people thought. With so much unknown, there could be all sorts of thought processes. Those same thought processes could change drastically 26 hours from now. I thought that might be interesting. If they weren't trying to really compete, part of me wouldn't mind seeing them load up the rotation with the top prospects coming out of ST and kind of see what happens. Not haphazardly of course, but make it a legitimate competition and see who comes to the top.
  10. If Berrios is dealt, what does next season's rotation look like? Maeda is probably the only real lock as I see it. There are a few minor leaguers that will hopefully get a taste of the big leagues later this season. Perhaps they acquire a few other options via trade. Do they re-sign Pineda? Does Dobnak fight for a spot? Do they go out and sign a couple of 2nd-tier starters? I figure it'll be some combination of all of these, but what do others think?
  11. And four teams topped 100 wins that season. The Twins had the 4th best record in baseball with 101 wins.
  12. I agree with you on the fundamentals, but I find it hard to believe that improved fundamentals nets that team another 19 wins. That's about 1/3 of the games they actually lost. 10 seems plausible, but 19 seems like a stretch.
  13. I'm starting to drift to this line of thinking too. Just listening to Berrios' tone makes me think that he's after a payday and intent hitting on the market. And I don't blame him for that. It might make quite a bit of sense to deal him if there's that much interest.
  14. Gallo to Yankees. One potential suitor for Kepler off the table. Edit: oops, not official yet but apparently it's being finalized.
  15. IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!! ?
  16. Makes sense, but it doesn't sound like I'm the only one not enjoying the game threads as much this year. There's A LOT of frustration and anger this season. Perhaps it's expectation related, I don't know.
  17. Yes, some are pretty hard to be active in. Others aren't as bad. Not many are nearly as fun as they used to be.
  18. It's got nothing to do with any of that. Hell, half of the time they don't even have anything to do with the game!
  19. Game threads can be fun win or lose. Not everyone takes sports so seriously.
  20. I don't care...I'm having chicken tonight anyway! That's what my wife is making and I'm smart enough not to poke the bear.
