    This is kinda where I sit too. I don't see them tearing it down completely. I'd be pretty surprised to see Goldschmidt dealt, even more so for Arenado. And I'd believe the sky is falling if they dealt both. The thing with their pitching is that they're typically the one dealing it rather than bringing it in. They've been pretty good at developing pitchers for a while, but it appears that injuries have taken their toll on their pitching core.

    Trading for Goldschmidt is a pipe dream. He'll command a haul of prospects and is only signed through next year. This team is further away than a Goldschmidt. If this team was just a Goldschmidt away, I'd have a much different view on this. He also has a full no-trade clause, if I recall correctly. I have no idea why he'd waive it to come here. I'd have no issue moving Kirilloff if they did bring him here, but I have to imagine that he'd be included in the haul the Cardinals would get in return. So, that's a moot point in my view. As @chpettit19, I do think a lineup full of young guys could be worse. That said, I'm at the point where I'd rather see that then the likes of Kepler and Gallo flailing away. I don't think they have enough even borderline ready guys in places of need to fill the holes this lineup has though.

    Exactly. I'm not trying to dis Arraez either. I respect his bat and he's fun to watch, but he's not the only thing this lineup needs. He's one of several pieces needed.

    Arraez isn't the offensive savior a lot of people around here want him to be. Sure, you can rattle off individual hitting stats all you want, but I haven't seen anyone show me that he's creating more runs. Someone else has to drive him in. This team has a major issue with driving runners in, so I fail to see how his presence moves the needle any meaningful amount. He'd most likely just end up another tally in the LOB column like every other base runner they get on. I liked Arraez, but I just don't buy that he's the fix all everyone wants him to be. This offense is far more flawed than one guy or one high OBP guy. They need to fix far more than that. They aren't just one hitter away from being legit.

    He's been a 5 to 6 inning pitcher his entire career. His mentality certainly wants to go longer, but his command and efficiency don't allow for it on average. But he knows he'll make more money on the open market. I honestly don't think it matters what team he currently plays for, he wants to hit the open market. You may be correct that it'll take significantly more to bring him back, but at this point it's all just conjecture.

    Money is the reason he won't entertain a new contract. He wants to be a free agent. At his age, I don't blame him one bit. If it comes out that the Twins outbid everyone else and he still signed elsewhere, then I think it's fair to say that. As it is, simply wanting to test the free agent market is hardly an indictment of this situation.

    Conflict works really well in music. Until it doesn't.

    What happens will probably depend on what Castro is doing at the time. If he's ice cold, then sending him down might make sense. I'm not sure that Gordon is a lock to get right back on the active roster though. A lot can happen between now and then however.

    Without trying to replicate @chpettit19s post, Castro's value is in his versatility, which is key for a bench player. That is huge for a team over the course of a long season. If he's able to provide something with the bat too, that's just gravy, in my mind. On this team, I think Castro provides more value than Kepler does. Kepler has guys waiting in the wings behind him that can play RF and hit to his level. I don't really think that there's anyone else on the 40-man that has the versatility of Castro. Given that, I'm not sure what the point of sending him down would serve.

    Toronto draws pretty well too, but it was impressive to see crowds like that on a Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm interested to see turnouts for the post-game concerts. Especially when compared to how the team would normally draw.

    I was at Tuesday's game. Obviously, an entertaining game. It's always a good time when the Brewers are in town. The atmosphere at Target Field is about as fun as it can be during the regular season.

    Twins have apparently traded for RHP Taylor Floyd of the Brewers. Is this the corresponding move to sending Larnach down?
