  1. I thought they were consistently bad.
  2. This team is officially worth watching.
  3. I wish this group would sing "Let's Go Crazy" or "Little Red Corvette" instead.
  4. It did address problem drinking.
  5. I thought Julio Franco was still playing in South Korea.
  6. Dozier is pretty good at hitting inside pitches.
  7. Matt Albers is pretty heavy.
  8. Yes. And he'll go fishing with Adam Laroche . . . and Adam's kid.
  9. Looks like a game of ha my sack broke out.
  10. And this is a well thought out opinion. However, I still think Sano should be given a chance to continue playing at third base. He is one of the most talented young hitters in the game, and he should be an automatic choice to hit cleanup. Having messed up his season by playing him in the outfield, I think we need to get him as much work at third this season as possible, so we know where he's going to play by spring training. Right now, Mauer is much better at first and Vargas and possibly Park can't play anywhere else. Our best chance to get as many of these bats in the lineup as possible is if Sano can stick at third. I don't disagree with the idea that he could work out those issues in AAA. However, he can work on those issues in te MLB as well. And his development as a hitter is best continued at this level. In AAA, he wouldn't be challenged enough.
  11. Add to that great defense. I hope he can stay hot and his OPS goes even higher. His walks are up, strikeouts are down, and he's coming around on his power numbers. Yeah, I can live with Joe at 1st.
  12. Well, that inning sucked. Now Mauer's only on pace for 7 hits. . . unless we go extras. Any chance Milone comes out of the bullpen tonight?
  13. Make that three. . . in three innings. He's on his way to 9 hits tonight.
  14. I'd say there's only one Posey, and from year-to-year 2-3 others who hit that well -- and you don't necessarily know who they'll be. All of them are one screaming foul tip away from being out for days, weeks, or being done catching for good. Paying the high price for this rare commodity is a huge risk that, in my opinion, is not worth taking. I hope that if we gamble in the off-season, it will be on trading for or signing a guy for the top of our rotation. Period.
  15. I think Sano should be given at least the rest of the season to primarily play 3rd. If there's any way he can handle the position going into next year, it makes the lineup look way better and opens up space for our logjam at 1st/DH. Best case scenario, next year we have Mauer/Park/Vargas at 1b/DH and Sano/Polanco at 3b. He should never have been put in the OF. But that's water under the bridge at this point. Keeping Plouffe and blocking Sano at 3b was a big mistake that should not be made again next year. Give Sano a chance to stick there, and if he really can't handle it, play Polanco there. I think he will be able to handle it, as he looks like he has the tools. He's still a very special talent, and he should be treated as such.
  16. According to Dick, DSA will conduct an interview with Dick. Is Bremer a candidate for GM now?
  17. What is the classic sense of the word "badly"? Sometimes Roy speaks over my head, I think.
  18. Just had to add to the ridiculous number of posts on this thread.
  19. You are right about the Kicks. And the Strikers had to play in the Metrodome, so that wasn't particularly fair. However, that was the first generation of soccer players in Minnesota. The sport has grown immensely since then. So i think the conclusions drawn from the Kicks and Strikers might not be applicable to United (I wish they would name them the Kicks and bring back the orange jerseys). And I apologize to everyone for leading this thread off on this tangent.
  20. That makes sense because there are so many less games in a soccer season. So if you are choosing which game to attend based on price, the Twins will probably win out. However, if the Twins are doing poorly and losing a lot, and you take your family out to see them stink it up along with another 10,000 fans, your kids might be happier if you'd just splash the cash to go to a packed soccer stadium where everyone is excited to see the product. I'm not saying this is a complete overlap, but there is some overlap there. I also think there are season ticket holders who will be more excited to spend their dollars on the MLS than a poor Twins team.
