  1. I know this thread is a bit old, but when a house takes people under their care and protection in their own house and then to betray that oath with murder is one of the most grave sins you can commit in the Game of Thrones universe. The North does not forget.
  2. It's a GRAND story arc. We haven't seen the end, with the books yet. I firmly believe that it will have a bitter sweet type of ending. There will be sacrifices made but I do think it will end on an upbeat note. What makes Game of Thrones so great is the character arcs. Game of Thrones and Dexter are at completely opposite ends of the spectrum there. Every character in Game of Thrones is well written, is interesting and you just love to see what happens next. With Dexter, I couldn't give two craps about any of the supporting characters after eight seasons. As far as the Others go, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a point of view chapter from an Other at some point. That said, he needs to cut some of the fat out of the series and get to the goodies.
  3. I used to think that, but I'm convinced that Breaking Bad is better. That said, of the two TV shows in this discussion, I would go with the Wire. Though the Sopranos is also one of the best TV shows, so definitely worth the watch after.
  4. I think a BJ Upton comp for Buxton is much closer to his absolute floor. I don't even see that though. Buxton is showing exceptional contact skills that BJ doesn't possess. (assuming that's the Upton we're talking about. Sano has a really high ceiling but the contact skills are always the major question mark. I was a bit surprised to see Sano ranked that high by BA honestly, but it's good to see. I'll give Sano 200 ABs at AA before I really get worried about the batting average though.
  5. That sample size is so small that there's hardly any valuable information to get from it. Also he's hitting .400 so it's really not a big deal at the moment, especially when I read scouting reports that his approach is comparable to Mauer or Pujols.
  6. Miguel Sano hit his first AA home run tonight!
  7. His name is Doug Mientkiewicz. Why stop at AA? Let's give him a tour of the entire Twins upper minors development system before reaching the bigs for his cup of coffee this year?
  8. Who's Dougie Mint? Anyway, I don't know he might be but it's a bit hard to tell at this point. Clearly he was too good for high A, a difficult hitters league so that's re-assuring. Just to throw a little fuel on the fire, Jason Parks said in a podcast that he thinks Buxton could probably skip high A and go straight to AA.
  9. I guess he needs to be promoted to the MLB to get something to hit.
  10. RISP will tell me how good a player is in clutch situations. RBI relies far too much on team performance.
  11. In the recent Baseball Prospectus "Fringe Average" podcast, Jason Parks stated that Byron Buxton will be ranked as the #1 prospect in their midseason rankings.
  12. Mike Trout had 1312 plate appearances in the minor leagues before earning a big league promotion. Byron Buxton currently has 458, and will finish with a couple hundred more before the end of the season. Mike Trout spent a year in short season ball. Another year going from low A to high A. Another year completely in AA. Then the year after he spent about a month in AAA before being called up. Byron Buxton spent a partial season in short season ball. He will likely spend a year in low A and high A. Next year he'll likely be in AA for the most part and could be called up shortly after. If he were to do that, his timeline would be quite similar to Mike Trout's.
  13. That could happen. Maybe a couple of those guys have nice careers for the Astros, but if Buxton truly becomes the next Trout then I'd consider that a loss for them.
  14. It was never just about Correa for the Astros. They picked a guy they could sign under slot so that they could sign a couple guys over slot later on.
  15. Oh, I don't know Walter Johnson was pretty good. All joking aside, I don't think that's a preposterous statement at all, and that's saying something! I do think he's on the cusp of being as good of a prospect as Mauer right now, and may end up being a better one depending on his development.
  16. I seriously doubt Sano struggles like Hicks did early on. Hicks had almost always been about projection in the minors over what he was currently doing. Sano has produced in a big way at every step of the way through the minors. The guy has some significant hitting upside and I cannot fathom a Slugging percentage of .267 or anything close to that. He may hit in the low .230s or something like that if he really struggles his first year but the power should still be there.
  17. I'll definitely gain interest in the Miracle when our best prospect moves there in a few days.
  18. I'd say a very minor chance he gets a cup of coffee this year, otherwise if he continues to perform really well we should see him June of next year.
  19. Irregardless of what you think, I will continue to use it just to annoy you.
  20. Average has som value. Clearly you wouldn't just use that stat, that be ridiculous. The problem with WAR is that it relies on people wTching the games on tv to judge zones that defensive players are in, irregardless of defensive shifts. Catcher defense cannot be properly gauged by WAR yet they do so anyway. It's also inaccurate over short periods of time.
  21. I haven't heard 97. Anyway, rarely does anyone sit at 97. There might be a couple starters in all of baseball that do that. He's young, has a good body and a good chance to add velocity later on. From what I've heard he sits at 90-94 and maybe that mean he can touch 97. Anyway, velocity provides a good basis to develop other pitches but I think people get a bit too inftuated with it. Stewart has the chance to develop a plus plus slider, I'm more interested in that.
  22. The spots may be close, but within the rankings of prospects, there are also tiers. Buxton is likely in a different tier than Sano. Trust me, Sano has been one of my favorite prospects for years now. I remember arguing with Kab21 over at a different site about his Miguel Sano-Angel Villalona comp a few years ago. Buxton just has some very loud tools that project to be better than Sano's tools.
  23. Catcher is ahead of Shortstop, and 3B might be ahead of 2B but otherwise I agree.
  24. Buxton's the best prospect in our system and very close to the best player in all of the minors, if he isn't already. Sano has the 80 power, but Buxton has the louder tools overall and projects to play an up the middle position.
