  1. I was at the game tonight and saw a young team with a lot of energy. I saw Mejia hold on by a thread and Sano start a amazing double play. I saw a team that went down by a run then came back and won by two in the 9th inning based on clutch hitting by the bottom of the batting order (and whether or not Molitor heard me screaming to pinch hit for Buxton, he made the right call there).. I saw Kintzler pray behind the mound and I prayed with him. If this team is toast, then maybe that is the beginning of the best BLT that we ever eat. On the other hand, I think that it helped a lot that Trout is on the DL and that Pujols really wants to get to #600, and swung at some bad pitches. Also, the Angels have lot of fast players, but Pujols runs like Babe Ruth did at the end of his career and clogged the bases when we needed them clogged.
  2. I am back from the game. I cheered so hard during the 9th inning that my throat is sore.
  3. The Indians lost today, and we still have reason to care (unlike last year). The Twins are still 14-5 on the road. The road is their friend. Tomorrow night they play in Anaheim, and Trout is on the DL. Without Trout, the Angels are not a great team. Sano's stomach flu cannot last forever. Tomorrow will be my first live game of the season. I will be sitting behind the Twins dugout ready to bellow at Molitor if he makes any bad moves. I have the same seats for Saturday, when Berrios should be on the mound. Without Trout, the Angels could be shut out or worse.
  4. Agreed, but I do think that players can learn some things from watching other players who are doing things right.
  5. I am too tired to read the entire thread. Has any reason been given for not playing Sano?
  6. I hope that the Twins players are watching closely and learning things from the Astros players and how they go about their business.
  7. The team with the worst record in baseball is the Phillies, The Phillies' best reliever appears to be their closer, Hector Neris, but he has had some problems. http://www.thegoodphight.com/2017/5/24/15684616/hector-neris-is-back-baby It seems to me that the Twins should at least scout Neris, and perhaps consider offering prospects who might help the Phillies. Neris is only age 27, so the Phillies will want top prospects, but maybe they might be willing to trade quality for quantity that has high upsides. It's only May, but sometimes the early bird gets the worm, and I see no detriment to looking at players from the Phillies, the Padres and the Marlins, three teams that seem very unlikely to contend.
  8. You make some good points, but let's hope that tomorrow Berrios can go 8 or 9 innings and turn this around. The Twins are coming to Anaheim soon and I hate that damn rally monkey.
  9. Rucinski is not getting it done, but I see no reason not to now put in Wheeler .
  10. I ran out of likes a while ago, but this is a great post.
  11. Moderator note - this game is infuriating but please tone down the name calling.
  12. For the love of God please bring in one of the young guys.
  13. I want to see Buxton's right hand. If the laceration is not severe then a band aid would have avoided that missed catch by Rosario.
  14. I hope that our batters spent some time in the cage during the rain delay. We could use runs in the bottom of the 8th.
  15. At least warm up one of them and see how his pitches look.
  16. I am starting to worry. Someone needs to be warming up.
  17. Agreed. And clearly he know more than I do. This illustrates how we fans can be completely wrong.
  18. I respectfully disagree with Erv coming back out. He looked tired last inning.
  19. I would like him to stay in for his defense. I suspect that he may be injured.
  20. Today would be a great day for lots of insurance runs. The bullpen is gassed and it would be nice to deplete the Houston bullpen so that they are gassed tomorrow.
  21. Great final pitch by Erv. WHEW.
  22. For all we know there is a good reason not to communicate the reason. Perhaps he drank too much alcohol and got sick, which would be a situation that should be handled internally. As for letting him play in the field, I don't believe that this was planned -- he came in as a pinch hitter in a close game that the Twins wanted to win so bad that they asked Duffey to pitch even though he threw 30 pitches on Saturday -- a calculated risk. And perhaps a decision was made that he needed a mental health break, which again would be something that should not be shared with the public. It's OK for fans to speculate about stuff like this, but it seems to me that we should always take into account that there may be factors that we don't know about. The only things that fans know for certain is what we can see and what we are told. What I see is a team that is winning far more games than expected, and for that reason I believe that Molitor and the FO deserve some benefit of the doubt.
  23. As others have observed, we don't know whether Sano might be exhausted or suffering from a minor injury. Placing blame based on incomplete information can be unfair in some instances.
