  1. Mauer grounds out to second with runners on 2B and 3B to end the inning. Maybe Mauer needs a day off.
  2. Two on for Dozier and only one out -- we could get back into the game with a couple of hits.
  3. Pavano looking very hittable -- flat, up and in the zone.
  4. Fantastic base running and hustle by Mastroianni get Pavano a run in the third. Then Mauer grounds out with two men on. The new guys seem to be providing a needed spark. I am hoping that the veterans will start playing better.
  5. My pleasure, Seth, and I thank you for all the amazing writing that you have done for me and so many other fans for so many years. When you were writing on your site, I read it almost every day, and you have made my life better for years with your insights and inspiration.
  6. I think that this is an excellent analysis. I also agree with those who say that Mauer is likely to get back to being more productive as time passes. Let's all be glad that we are not in as bad a position as the Angels with Pujols.
  7. We should all be grateful to Seth and the others who start this thread every day. Does anyone else agree with me that Span should have caught that drive to the wall in the first inning? Pavano pitched out of it, but it looked to me like Span took a very little league looking route.
  8. Cleveland lineup - Choo - RF Kipness - 2B Cabrera - SS Hafner - DH Santana - C Brantley - CF Lopez - 3B Kotchman - 1B Duncan - LF Domez - P For the home team -- Span - CF Dozier - SS Mauer - 1B Willingham - LF Doumit - DH Plouffe - 3B Mastroianni - RF Butera - C Carroll - 2B Pavano - P Whew, I wish that there was some site where I could have cut and pasted that.
  9. I would like to get a lefty with a high ceiling. It looks like the Mariners have at least two of these -- Danny Hultzen and James Paxton. -- and the Mariners might highly value Span.
  10. Is it possible that Butera deserves significant credit for the recent success of our pitchers? If so, then I would like to see him play often, because I am sick of seeing opponents scoring early and often. And Doumit might be worth trying at third base, so that we can get more production there, or he could play right field, first base and catch occasionally. Maybe it's just a coincidence, or maybe I am mistaken, but my impression is that our pitchers fare better when he is catching.
  11. Great game by Diamond. Let's hope that he can continue to produce.
  12. As a fan, I need to find some shreds of hope to get through a season like this one.
  13. I liked having him on the Twins, but it sounded like he was not liked in the clubhouse.
  14. I agree with this. The best trade partner is a team that wants Span so much that they are willing to pay a premium, preferably with at least two high level pitching prospects.
  15. Let's be happy that Walters showed potential. If he can develop into a reliable #3, then he will be very valuable in the future.
  16. I agree with this. I have seen a number of plays where it seemed to me that Plouffe did not have his head in the game.
  17. It's good to hear that Waldrop is feeling better and Bromberg is pitching so well. Thanks for another excellent report.
  18. Not a pretty win, but any win is a good one and Mastro was productive.
  19. That would explain a lot.
  20. I was on the fence, but this post and others have convinced me that the time has come for Gardenhire to move on.
  21. Centerfield, which is the player that is most talked about here as trade bait.
  22. I need morphine at this point.
  23. Slama's MLB era is interesting -- 7.71 in his callup in 2010 (4 runs in 4.2 innings) and 0.00 in 2011 (0 runs in 2.1 innings). The failure to give him more of a chance seems inexplicable, yet it's odd that no one else claimed him when they had the chance. Maybe we should put together a PETITION to Terry Ryan. I wonder if anyone in the Twins organization reads this site.
