  1. If we are lucky, Drew will drive in the winning run.
  2. Willingham kills the rally. In hindsight, Mastro would have been a better choice in left field today -- Willingham not sharp.
  3. Willingham is not helping himself with his current cold streak.
  4. There is good reason for your prediction. If we are lucky, the rain will kill this game. Otherwise, I am setting the over/under on Twins' being struck out at 10.
  5. Amazingly, Blackburn gets ahead of Braun 0-2 then gets him to pop out.
  6. Unless someone else starts hitting, I believe that the Brewers will pitch around Plouffe no matter where he bats today.
  7. The situation indeed seems bleak. But there is the possibility of trading for promising minor league prospects. Or maybe offering Bard enough money that he might reconsider.
  8. I think that "Plouffetist" has become the established term.
  9. I was thinking the same thing. I wonder whether he would have hit either homer without the PED enhanced swing.
  10. Two Brewers homers in 2 pitches -- I cannot watch this any more.
  11. Morneau and Doumit have terrible at bats -- Morneau strikes out in 3 pitches and Doumit lucky to hit weak grounder. Then Brewers wisely walk Plouffe to get to Dozier and an easy popout to end the inning. Twins need to be sellers at the trade deadline.
  12. Hendriks not looking good today -- having trouble throwing strikes and too much up and in the zone. Five of first ten batters have reached and we are already down 2 runs in the second. Unless Twins hitters can start getting decent at bats against mediocre Brewers starter, this will be another frustrating loss. And I expect Brewers will pitch around Plouffe today.
  13. Twins hitters not sharp in 1st inning -- 3 groundouts to SS -- not making Brewers' pitcher work very hard. Willingham robbed when first baseman's foot off the bag but ump missed it.
  14. Hendriks threw a lot of pitches in the 1st inning (21) -- gave up a single and a walk -- but he got out of it. Let's hope that subsequent innings are easier for him.
  15. It is fantastic to hear from an actual player, and I look forward to watching you as you work your way to the Show.
  16. I almost forgot -- today is the birthday of two great Twins heroes -- Trevor Plouffe and Bark's Lounge. Happy birthday to both of you! After all of the partying tonight, Veronica will probably be very tired tomorrow. Brian, you are almost certainly correct that Plouffe will probably be able to stay in the lineup for a while even if he cools off. But as a Plouffetist, I believe that he is still warming up, and the best is yet to come.
  17. Thanks Brian for your kind words. I am honored to even be mentioned in the same post as Plouffe and Bark's Lounge. But the truth is that the founder of Plouffetism was Bark's Lounge. At best, I have merely been Bark's first disciple -- the Garfunkle to his Simon. The true genius and visionary behind the Plouffetistic philosophy is Bark, and I am hoping that, for the good of the team, Plouffe and Bark can come to terms about this Veronica situation.
  18. This is why the hopes for a comeback this year seem faint.
  19. Hey, I voted for Alexi Casilla at 2B and Jamey Carroll at SS. Yes, they are not great players, but they are Twins, they are having a losing season and I want them to know that some people like them. The only positions where I did not vote for a Twin have been 1B (Parmelee) and 3B (Valencia). Fortunately, many voters try to vote for the best player regardless of team loyalty -- otherwise the all-star team would be all Yankees (because they have the most fans). What might be hurting Mauer is what 70charger referred to in his initial post -- the widespread perception that Mauer's contract is one of the worst in baseball. Also, he has been playing a lot more 1B and DH than the other candidates.
  20. This is one of the best articles I have ever read. I learned a lot about the potential effects of small changes in a batter's swings, and the videos are very helpful. It sounds like Vavra deserves some credit here, as does Plouffe himself for working hard to make the changes work for him. Great work Parker. You are an outstanding writer and analyst.
  21. Great news for Beloit. I think that making it to the playoffs is helpful in developing a winning attitude on the part of the prospects. Too bad that the prospects in Ft. Meyers and Rochester are being acclimated to losing. I wonder whether there is anything that can/should be done about this.
  22. I can. I just hope that they throw some bones to the fans. In September, I would like to see a game where Mauer and Butera each play all 9 positions in the same game -- a double of what Cesar Tovar did. This could be scheduled against a team that then has no postseason chances, so it would no affect any pennant races. I predict that such game would be sellout, TV ratings would soar, the players would have a good time, and lots of fans would appreciate how fun this would be.
  23. Bark -- you should write a Plouffe movie. Your imagination is incredible. So far, I think that you should be in the lead for getting those tickets, but you might have done better with the judge if you had included some mention of Plouffe's future porn career.
  24. I am mystified by the inability to get hits off Blanton. Were the hitters TOO anxious/aggressive? Too overconfident after last night's scoring? Or just unfocused?
