  1. While I agree with you, I think it would be hilarious if they got another catching prospect. Other teams can't have catchers if the Twins have all the catching prospects.
  2. Put some respect to Twins Legend (TM) Anthony DeSclafani's name. He's right up there with Isiah Kiner Falefa to me
  3. For sure. Not really interested in trading controllable players for multiple years unless its too good to pass up.
  4. I mean, you asked if the Furguson trade took them out of the Duran sweepstakes. I was just answering the question.
  5. #13 Mariner prospect per MLB.com. Feel like the M's would still be in on Duran if they wanted
  6. Given what the Giants just got for 2 months of Tyler Rogers, who knows what Duran or even Jax will fetch in a trade.
  7. For those heading to Milwaukee, bring your glove, the MASH unit may need a fresh position player.
  8. Well, the sun did rise in the east today. So...
  9. Last nights result notwithstanding, I chalk the last ~6 weeks up to 3 things. 1) Injuries derailed this season. Buxton, Correa, Ryan, Topa, Stewart, Miranda, the list goes on. Leaning on fellas with little to no MLB experience was a recipe for disaster. 2) Inexperience the aforementioned #1. Especially the pitchers not equipped/conditioned to play 162 games. 3) Lack of depth. I don't blame Rocco for this collapse for the most part. Head scratching moves for sure. But he really only had what 2 reliable starting pitchers in Ober and Lopez the whole season and 3.5 reliable relievers all season in Duran, Jax and Sands. Sometimes Alcala. Anyway, Rocco needs to play the players that are available to him on any given day. This is likely giving him (Rocco) too much of a pass, but I believe that baseball managers get too much credit in success and far too much blame in failure. These players know how to play and they know the fundamentals that some love to preach that Rocco needs to teach more of. At some point these players need to execute and be professional. They will learn and be better for it next year. They just ran out of gas and Detroit got white hot at the right time. At least the Vikings and Timberwolves exist.
  10. I'd chalk it up to inefficiency in executing pitches. Coupling that with pitching 3 out of 4 days. Recipe for disaster. If it hadn't happened so quickly, I would hope that Rocco would've pulled him after the 3rd batter. Hopefully he can get a few days off here and its just a blip in an otherwise fantastic year for him.
  11. Yeah sounds likely anyway. Although, I'd like to see what Blewett has too. Dobnak, Blewett, and Winder are most likely. Winder only because he has options. I'd imagine Zebby and Varland playing musical chairs every 15 days. Zebby for 2 starts, Varland for another 2 starts, etc. Until/if one emerges anyway.
  12. Good luck to Zebby. Wonder what the corresponding move will be?
  13. Everyone's favorite Uber driver is back! lol
  14. Didn't add that in that they would screwed either way. That is my bad.
  15. Personally to me, its not about making moves vs not making moves. I don't think there were too many moves to be made. Fedde, Flaherty likely weren't going to be dealt here due to the perceived "in-division tax" cost in prospects even before talking about dollars and cents. Eovaldi was on my personal wish list and wasn't dealt anywhere. That Kikuchi return to the Blue Jays was decent, unsure if the FO would've given up the prospects for him anyway. Who's that leaving? Upgrades to the bullpen would've been nice but idk. Starting pitching trades were scarce though. To me, my biggest issue with how the last ~4-5 days turned out was the pre-emptive, mostly unnecessary management of expectations from ownership by citing budget concerns. Needle moving trades weren't likely coming to Minnesota anyway due to the aforementioned in division trades. Maybe they tried to strike a deal with the Marlins or something that didn't pan out. I just think the ownership group could've done themselves a favor by saying nothing prior to the deadline.
  16. I thought my comment was rooted in realism. I'm just saying, from a PR perspective, maybe don't say anything at all, through the media anyway. That likely isn't the best strategy either. Dunno why I'm complaining anyway. Not like I'm going to take my fandom elsewhere. I'll get up in arms once or twice a year like I am now and be right back here next season. Shoot I got tickets to games in September. I'm a part of the problem.
  17. Exactly this. I'm not expecting them to make it rain cash every year. I would, however, like them to capitalize on seasons like this one. And maybe I'm wrong on this year. But man, maybe don't put out that statement about trading away from the MLB roster to match salaries.
  18. I was gonna say 2009 or 2010 but forgot about 2022. Although the aforementioned years (09-10) were savvy moves vs pushing chips in. Not my money and I understand the financial constraints with the lack of a RSN and the resulting needing to slash payroll. Even though the younger players coming up had just as much to do with the budget going down as much as not spending. But they're not mutually exclusive (little of column A, little of column b if you will). It's just frustrating when you have the momentum of a talented roster, having a good year, winning first playoff game/series in 18+ years. That you would want to build upon that equity with the fans, get them excited about the team, etc... Instead, put this out there saying "Jeez, sorry guys. Gotta balance that budget dontchaknow". Just like once, push those chips in. Sorry about the rambling/incoherent-ness of this post. It's 20+ years of frustration boiling over.
