  1. Seems like a good deal to me. Basically got 2 extra 2017 picks with another team paying the bonus'. And they could still end up signing Marte for the remainder of their international bonus money.
  2. This is what Falvine wanted when they traded for Littell and Enns. And the guy they got from the Nationals. (Can't think of his name currently) Twins need/ed a stronger 2nd and 3rd level of pitchers. Now they are seeing that come together. Hopefully they can help the Twins win it all in '18!
  3. I don't like the idea of trading Rosario. I see him having the better offensive career than Kepler and Buxton. (In MY opinion) If they can stray him back towards the defensive Rosario of 2016 and away from his path towards delmon young I'll like him better than Kepler overall. He's going to continue to be streaky like Buxton. Buxton having the higher offensive ceiling. But I see the possibility of Rosario reaching or exceeding his said ceiling much more likely than Buxton or Kepler. I think that if the Twins are series about Darvish and Ohtani.... The only way to sign Darvish will be to over pay. And to have a deal basically worked out with Ohtani. And the only way to start on. Ohtani so if you have a deal worked out with Darvish. I honestly don't see this as to hard to imagine being a legitimate possibility. Assuming Darvish AND Ohtani live up to expectations. You'd be over paying Darvish while simultaneously underpaying Ohtani. Mauer comes of the books after this season and Hughes's mistake of a contract comes off after next year. The twins have also made it clear that they like the fact of signing these Asian players as it brings in a whole countries worth of fans. That being said I think they'd have to waaay over pay to get Darvish. And a place like NYC or LA would be to hard to lure Ohtani away from.
  4. I agree. Early returns suggest the Twins made a really, really good choice. Although I haven't checked in on how the other guys that could've gone number one have done so far. I'm definitely happy as a fan with Lewis. My initial thought when he was picked was "what the heck!?" But that was mainly because I hadn't even heard of him prior to the draft.
  5. Nice write up. I have wondered with the emergence of Hackimer if it could be a hindrance to him or Hildenberger pitching to the same batters either in a game or in a series. Depending on how similar their arsenal is as well as delivery. Similar to a starter facing the lineup as 3rd time thru.
  6. I'm guessing Twins are pushing for Darvish in part because they want him pitching for them, but also because they believe this signing could help lure him to MN vs New York where he'd surely make more money in endorsements and ect to make up some of the money lost by coming to the states early.
  7. I could realistically see the Twins taking Tillman or Hellickson on a 1 year deal. Unless one of the others were to sign a minor league deal. I'd certainly rather see them take a chance with Tillman or Hellickson over them trying Santiago again.
  8. Pretty nice to see two guys that "could" be impact arms in the Twins bullpen in '18 ranked so low in Bard and Chargois. As well as Hackimer being a Sept call up possibility?
  9. Yes on Rosario. Wait at least a year on Kepler to see if he can hit lefties. If he can't improve on this you'd be over paying on him to be somewhat of a platoon player. Of all the players you've gone over I have the most confidence in Rosario keeping up his play and possibly improving. Sano is good but really needs to improve his contact. Buxton hasn't proven who he really is offensively. I love Dozier but he has replacements waiting in the wings. And Berrios also needs to show he can at least maintain what he did last season at the big league level. Hopefully improving upon it.
  10. Why does the Twins upswing have to happen at the same time as the Yankees??
  11. Wow! Isn't that what we all played through in our backyardas kids? Bottom of the 9th and hitting a walk off homer?
  12. Seems the more Santiago pitches the more he hurts his contract for 2018. He needs to fake an injury or something to get out of the 2017 season.
  13. Had a beer and a Washington apples shot with him at a bar in St Louis during a 3 games series yrs ago. He also signed a few autographs for me and some friends. I can't pinpoint the game but I fondly remember him telling someone to (from reading his lips) "get the f@#$ back in there!" After throwing an inside fastball in the heat of the playoff race. One of my favorite players!
  14. Thing that bothered me about the bunt was that Mauer was on 2nd. So chances of Polanco hitting into a double play were pretty low....and Polanco and Rosario hitting behind him are two of the hottest hitters.
  15. Crazy how Buxton can go from a guy who looks so lost he doesn't even belong in professional baseball let a lone MLB. To a guy this exciting to watch. Regardless of who the better hitter is I'd rather see Garver be given a real chance to contribute as either DH or 1b. Or spelling Kepler vs tough lefties.
  16. I agree. Hopefully he isn't another ABW. I liked him but he's gonna have to make more contact. He was 2-5 with a homer and 3 rbi. But also 3 Ks.
  17. I think Busenitz and Hildenberger should have now pushed Pressly and probably Duffey down the totum pole. I would probably put Morneau into the Twins HOF.
  18. I really don't understand why they would send Slegers down over Gibson. It says he was optioned down but I saw somewhere where he won't have to use an option because he was called up as the 26th man? Maybe they're trying to save an option year on him? Would definitely like to see him pitch again over Gibson. I feel bad for Gibson because he's a great guy from what I hear. But he's really struggled and seems to be lacking confidence....bad.
  19. Only 4 games behind NY Tom....might wanna check the rates for Minneapolis!
  20. Thanks number of times I've seen players miss handled is enough for me to give him the boot. When Kepler first came up last year and hardly played. Busenitz sitting out in the pen for over a week unused. Bullpen management hasn't been very good. I'd be interested to how Jake Mauer would fare as manager. Would Falvine be up for giving him a shot? I don't think Molitor should be back. But unless they can get someone with a good MLB manager track record I'd bring him back. Unless Falvine believes Mauer is ready.
  21. Could've used this bullpen dud on a date they don't score 11 runs.
  22. *In the Rocks voice* FINALLY!!...Busenitz has come back!!!...to the bullpen.
  23. 4 run lead going into the 8th and Molitor uses Rogers and then Belisle instead of using Busenitz that hasn't pitched in ages. I don't get it. Molitor should know by now that Belisle isn't as successful on back to back days. Why is him when he isn't needed?
  24. I 100% agree with Rosterman. Why is Molitor so scared to use Busenitz. Seems like a wasted roster spot and not doing him any good sitting on the bench.
