    The only beaning I ever got was from a hit ball ... playing 2nd, inside thigh, hard-hit liner by a guy wearing a t-shirt with the word 'Killer' on the back. Most colorful bruise I ever got ... but my own fault. edit: oh, and it was softball, not baseball

    Actually ... I had just had a discussion with my sister about her Sisyphusian or Herculean efforts. So it was fresh on the brain. Otherwise I would never had said such a thing.

    The NFL hasn't taken concussions seriously until recently; I think the lawsuit of former players vs the NFL was just settled. Also, see: Dave Duerson. I'm glad that baseball is taking this more seriously. That said, I think we need to really see what we have, who is here, who is gone, who we get, before Mauer is moved. I don't think any decision made rashly is a good one. Still, I think we see Mauer behind the plate next year, even if half time or less.

    Btw, never got a chance to post this anywhere, but when I was in Ft. Myers not too long ago, one of my Dad's attendants was at that Miracle game and was telling my mom about it. He basically said that the other manager was totally taunting Dougie. Not that that excuses anything, but there was definitely provocation.
