  1. Please use the article thread to continue the Perkins discussion. Thanks. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/15331-article-what-is-going-on-with-glen/?p=280183
  2. Kinda, yeah. I chuckled. Although the camera was more on Davis trying to make a play, but you can see it in your mind ... Vargas running for three.
  3. Yeah ... I always liked Nathan. Not so much in a playoff game or two. But honestly, I'd rather that had been Torii in center missing that play rather than Nathan on the mound for the loss.
  4. Deep hit ball to left center ... careens off the wall ... Davis chases after it and tries to grab it while running and doesn't quite get it picked up ... Vargas to 3rd.
  5. Ugh. I know Nolasco has sucked this year and Perk has been good until lately, but Nolasco pitched a great game and gets nothing for his troubles and Perk gets the win. That is just wrong. But yay Twins. Let's get the rest and play spoiler!
  6. Well, that's it for me. This is like the 2nd or 3rd time Perkins has done this to Nolasco, too.
  7. wow ... give credit when it's due ... Nolasco has pitched a fine game tonight.
  8. If I were a closer, my 'march to the mound' music would be the Darth Vader theme.
  9. Eww. But I saw THE PRETTIEST BMW monster bike the other day parked outside my building ... omg, I really wanted to climb on and ride away. Although I likely would have gotten two feet and would have tipped over.
  10. Well ... I was >this close< to texting you ... but just thought to have some patience, thinking it was just a 'hiccup'
  11. Okay, okay ... I deserve a slap for that, even from Darth.
  12. Yes ... occasional hiccups, just keep trying. If it's down more than 15 mins, find Brock on FB and message him. <G>
  13. I come home, Escobar is hurt, didn't see what happened, couldn't get onto TD ... nicely timed computer hiccup there ... but all's well that ends well.
  14. Whatever happens from here on out, it's your fault.
  15. Never mind ... they just said.
  16. I got home just as Escobar was being ushered off the field. What happened?
  17. Game-time forecast: Clear. Winds blowing in from right field at 5-10 m.p.h. Temperature around 60. TIGERS: SP, Porcello Kinsler 2B Hunter RF Cabrera 1B Martinez (Victor) DH Martinez (J.D.) LF Kelly CF Castellanos 3B Holaday C Romine SS TWINS: SP, Nolasco Santana CF Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Vargas DH Plouffe 3B Suzuki C Escobar SS Hicks RF Schafer LF --------------------------------------------- Brian? Thoughts? I'll leave you to it. ----------------------------------------- OK... Step Aside... Give me some room! (Cracks Knuckles) Things to Think About: 1. Winning/Losing -- I guess it all depends on your attitude. I was encouraged by the comeback last night... Against a pitcher like Scherzer is impressive. It's a moral victory all tho... It sure looks like a loss in the loss column. Because no matter how encouraged I was by the comeback. We went from 86 to 87 losses. 12 Games to go... 90 losses looks possible. 2. Winning/Losing Part 2 -- I was listening to Terry Ryan on the radio on Sunday. He was asked the question about the importance of Wins when evaluating a starting pitcher. I didn't memorize what he said exactly but he basically left no doubt that he considers Wins to be very important because that is what a team is trying to do... A team is trying to win games. Terry left the impression that a great pitching performance that results in a loss is a loss and that's the only way to look at it. I was left with the impression that Terry doesn't take any solace in moral victories. I do... Because I'm looking for signs of life because looking for wins don't matter much to me right now. 3. Rick Porcello -- I've already done a thing on Porcello. He's been a decent pitcher this year for the Tigers. If you like ERA as a stat and I do... Rick Porcello currently has the lowest ERA on the Tigers staff. His 3.23 is better than the 3.26 that both Scherzer and Price are currently sporting. It's odd because when you look at the Tigers rotation... Porcello is probably the guy you hope the Twins will face. Based on the numbers... I wonder if we should feel that way. He's been pretty damn good this year. 4. The Outfield -- "Josie's on a Vacation far away... Come Around and Talk it Over" As for the Twins Outfield. Oswaldo Arcia has been stroking the ball deep lately and it's been a bright spot in a tough September. He's not in the lineup today because he hurt his back with one of those mighty swings last night. Hicks will play RF with Santana in CF and Schafer in LF. All Year we've been complaining about the OF Range. At least for Tonight... We shouldn't have any OF Range complaints. 5. Speeding? -- I drove past a Honda Civic that had been pulled over. It was a hatchback... rusted all over... I assume Circa 1980... 1981. It was an old car and the cop had pulled it over. There is no way this car could be speeding. I'm wondering if I had witnessed an example of attempted speeding. Driver: "Sir... I wasn't speeding". Cop: "Yeah... But I know you were attempting to speed and just couldn't pull it off". Driver: "Fair Enough"
  18. Omg, that Mauer, what a worthless player! (Take that, you Mauer haters!)
  19. Game-time forecast: Clear. Winds blowing out to center field at 5-10 m.p.h. Temperature around 55. TIGERS: SP, Scherzer Kinsler 2B Hunter RF Cabrera 1B Martinez (Victor) DH Martinez (J.D.) LF Castellanos 3B Holaday C Romine SS Davis CF TWINS: SP, Swarzak Santana SS Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Vargas DH Plouffe 3B Arcia RF Suzuki C Parmelee LF Schafer CF ---------------------------- Thought time. Hopefully it won't be too painful. ----------------------------- Thanks for hoping for my painlessness... Or were you referring to those who read this and hoping that they don't feel any pain? Let's see what happens. Things to Think About: 1. The Tigers -- They appear to be playoff bound... Hopefully I just jinxed them by saying that. They hit a couple of come from behind dingers against the Indians this weekend and this kinda gives you that impression. Coming up big... late in games in late September is what playoff ready teams do. The Tigers have won 6 out of the last 7. They have 13 games left... 7 of which are against the Twins. They hold a 1.5 lead over the Royals for the central crown and a 2.5 game lead over the Mariners for the last wild card spot. 2. Playing the Spoiler -- Ron Gardenhire made a statement before the Chicago series. Paraphrasing... He stated that he would be auditioning some players because neither the Twins or the White Sox are going to be making the playoffs. In other words... the games really don't matter to either squad so I'll play whoever. Reading between the lines... In games that matter... Like this one does for the Tigers... Gardy will play his top lineup and try to beat the Tigers. I'm reading that right I assume... So... First Off... I respect the integrity of this approach... I like thinking that my club is professional... But 2nd off... We need a few more games in September against teams that are out of it so we can play audition and do what is best for us. Thank Goodness we have 3 games against a non contender when we host the D-Backs. That's all we got left tho'. 3. Anthony Swarzak -- Anthony takes the mound for the Twins tonight. He has thrown 73 innings for us in 2014. Striking out 42 batters and producing a 3.95 ERA. There was press discussion of the possibility of Swarzak serving as a starter and it was decided that he was better out of the pen. Regardless of where he belongs... He's gotta man up and face the Tigers tonight and he hasn't thrown more then 3 innings since Hoover was President. I think the bullpen will be busy tonight. 4. Max Scherzer -- So how much do you have to pay this guy? 37 Wins in the past two years... Over 200 IP in each of the past two years... Boras as an Agent. This guy will get a large large deal. Let's hope it's in the NL somewhere. Unless it's the Twins who sign him... Ha Ha... I Crack myself up with comments like that. 5. The Bank Teller -- A single guy from work went to the bank today and thought the bank teller was kinda cute so he asked her out. He came away disappointed because she declined. I told him that he didn't think it through all the way. She has access to his bank account right in front of her!!! She probably said no while laughing.
  20. Winnah! (Someone had to say it.)
  21. This is all I was looking for, tbh. While yeah, you want the guy to come up and be an 'instant sensation,' it's just not a practical outlook. Seeing improvement is what gives me hope to the season he could have next year.
