  1. Can duran pitch all the innings like christy Mathewson?
  2. Well I guess Jax’s career as high leverage guy was short lived
  3. Off day tomorrow, rocc. Don’t be afraid to pull him
  4. Haha you really can’t hide this guy anywhere, can you?
  5. Honestly he does look like he could have something, and I mean this not at all facetiously as I know it’s a hugely sensitive subject. But the stares with his mouth open and generally lost look. I don’t know, but I would bet my life he’s not there managing next year.
  6. Larussa is starting to look like Barnacle Boy from SpongeBob
  7. Wow pollock went right for the umpire. And man, larussa looks awful
  8. I mean. It’s a 6 run game and the Sox are conceding.
  9. Wow so cool a position player pitching. Thank god we ended the rain delay for this
  10. Radar looks like they might finish this one
  11. Wow what an inning that was from thielbar
  12. Back to back and a belly to belly
  13. That’ll teach me to be positive
  14. But people have literally said here that managers are overrated and don’t contribute much to wins/losses. Seen it posted many a time. So I don’t think I’m that far off.
  15. Yes I can see how leaving the starter in for the 6th inning ay 58 pitches is akin to bunting everyone the first time through the order ?
  16. I’m obviously exaggerating for a bit of comedic effect, but it’s really not far off from what some people think. How many times have you read posts here that say managers are worth many wins, they don’t do much, etc etc? And now this total embracement of any move that the numbers agree with leads me to believe that maybe we SHOULD try a robot manager. Let’s honor bill veeck and be totally innovative and pioneering!
  17. So the decision is entirely based on numbers, which is what I’m hearing here and what people have an issue with. There is no need for a manager then. The front office can program a robot to decide what they want from each individual player. The computer can make all the calls. I’m fine with that. Let’s be the first team to not have a human manager. How cool would that be? We could even dress him up like Rosey the Robot from the jetsons, but with a twins hat on. Even better, it could be the robot from lost in space, that way it’s arms can flail when a decision doesn’t work out. You’d just not be able to spray champagne on it in the event that we win a pennant. Attendance would skyrocket!
  18. No, I didn’t have any issue with asking 2 innings from him. My point was that if 2 innings is the plan, you’d have to acknowledge that his numbers are not great when asked to get 2 innings. Just like bundy’s numbers aren’t great the third time through the order but bundy HAD to come out of the game despite how well he was pitching because his numbers aren’t good in that situation. and, as mentioned above, archer is going tonight. And lord knows he can’t pitch past the fifth inning (if he even gets you 5), so you’re about to toast the bullpen in 2 games. The bullpen had to get 15 outs last night, assume they’ll need to get 3-5 innings tonight. That’s a hefty amount
  19. He hadn’t been asked to go 2 innings since way back in the Yankees series.. and overall his numbers when asked to go 2 are not great, so I don’t see it as a slam dunk decision.
  20. Yes, yes we do. It took a play that has literally never happened in the entire history of baseball to bail out Rocco’s decision, or we probably don’t even get to the 10th
  21. 3.5 game lead now. Not fearful of Cleveland or Chicago. Think it’s ours for the taking
  22. Said it in the game thread: everyone can recite the starter’s numbers “third time though the order”, but we don’t hear too many people reciting the reliever’s stats in specific situations. For instance, the plan was clearly to use jax for two innings. Well he’s been asked to get 6 outs exactly once since the beginning of June. He had a few outings in May when asked to go 2 IP and his numbers were average at best. But the plan was to use him for 2 innings once bundy was pulled regardless. Everyone knows bundy is probably the weakest starter, but somehow our relievers (outside of Duran) earn the nod of confidence on a pretty slim body of work
