    Is it fair to question if the FO never intended to compete this year, and brought Rocco back so they wouldn’t saddle a new guy with a roster they knew would be bad?

    Yeah I forgot they had one built in for the home opener. I don’t think this is even a conversation if they were pulled in the 7/8 inning. And not even from a “hey we can still come back!” standpoint. That wasn’t happening.

    I had to edit my comment. They have a scheduled off day this Friday after having just had one last Friday. That excuse holds no water for me

    He must have really wanted to get some at bats from keirsey and Julien /s and like, Byron and Carlos were set to bat in the top of the 4th when they were pulled. What sense could it possibly have made to just not let them bat??? I had coaches who would do silly stuff like that…in high school..

    Without any inside knowledge, I am going to speculate that the decision was 100% based on the fact that it was cold and we were losing by a bunch. Which is really incomprehensible considering the two guys are hitting a combined .071. You’d think they’d love to get some ABs against journeyman Martin Perez. But it’s absolutely par for the course for our team management. being the stars and veterans of the team, you think that they would have enough juice to keep themselves in the game if they wanted to. But did they? Quite frankly, I’m ready to move on from both.

    I don’t know that our manager has ever showed much when it comes to player accountability so I highly doubt that. My guess is that it was more about “it’s cold and we aren’t going to win. Why don’t you two stars take the rest of the afternoon off?” than any sort of attempt at sending a message

    Maybe, but those guys should be in the game until at least the later innings. They had to throw a guy in the outfield who has only ever played one inning there in the Puerto Rican winter league (according to the radio guys). Spring training is over.

    You don’t like the chances of buxton or Correa getting a hit over….Julien and Keirsey? Boy that says something. If nothing else, since they’re both hitting a COMBINED .077, seeing more live pitches today could be helpful. Certainly more productive than sitting in the dugout. Who knows maybe they could get a few knocks and get the ball rolling for tomorrow. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen guys pulled in the top of the 4th in game 4. But Rocco is a master at player management, as we’ve all seen so I digress
