  1. Nice double. Now let's see if Sano can bunt him over to third.
  2. Kevin Gorg is OK but he's no Audra Martin.
  3. Trivia question about Jeter finishing second to Morneau in the 2006 MVP vote... I will always remember hearing about that and going to the New York Post web site to see what their coverage was like. Large headline: JETER LOSES MVP! It was beyond ridiculous, even for the Post.
  4. Such is the life of a Twins fan in Chicago. Our condolences.
  5. Frazier removed from the game. Dickbert saying he may not be eligible to play since it was after the original lineup cards were exchanged. Changed.
  6. Dickbert says the whities have a last-minute lineup change.
  7. Like I mentioned last night, the Twins have 26 games in July. They've won 13. So we know what one more win means for this month. Let's go, boys.
  8. Plus that was in the mid-70's when all clothing was skin tight. Remember what basketball unis looked like then? Yikes!
  9. Here's a quote from Antony in this morning's Strib article: “It still might be a challenge [for Polanco] to get at-bats, but he’s the right guy to bring up. When we need somebody, he can come off the bench,” Antony said of the 23-year-old Dominican, who is a career .262 hitter in 22 big-league games. I wish he'd be getting playing time wherever he happens to be. However, it doesn't appear he'll get much with the Twins unless there are more roster moves.
  10. Reminds me of one of the best lines Souhan ever wrote. He described Matthew LeCroy as a baseball player trapped in the body of a softball player.
  11. I looked it up--they wore the shorts three times in the 1976 season. Thankfully, no other team has ever done that.
  12. If/when Mejia pitches for the Twins he will be (I believe) the second player named Adalberto in Twins history. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/ortizju01.shtml
  13. Yep. Good fit for an NL team. Utility infielder with enough bat to pinch hit and enough wheels to pinch run.
  14. Counting this game the Twins have 26 games this month. Going into this game they have 12 wins. It would be good to have a month that doesn't have a losing record.
  15. I'll amend my comment to say that the manager should be able to use any player in any position at any time within the rules as they are currently configured.
  16. As for me, I'd prefer neither change.
  17. As SwainZag pointed out, here's why. Mike Trout leads off for the Angels. If he gets on base, bring in a pinch runner and he bats again, substituting for the next player in the order. If he gets on base again, bring in another pinch runner and he bats again, substituting for the next player in the order. Repeat repeatedly.
  18. My wife and I had our first date on June 23, 1990. We saw David West throw 6 hitless innings on the way to beating the Royals 5-1. Our wedding date: September 28, 1991. We missed the ALCS games on account of honeymooning on St. Thomas, USVI. We attended all 4 WS games. Can't have a much better start to a marriage than that. Oh, and I also married up. In my case it would have been difficult not to have done so, but it would also have been true for a much better man than I.
