  1. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Fleeced by the Rays once again.
  2. I'd want to keep Kepler for the simple fact he's the only slugging lefthanded prospect bat in the upper minors. (Yes, I'm not counting Arcia). The Twins will need at least one lefty to go along with Sano, Buxton, Dozier, Plouffe, ABW II potentially. Kepler's defense, speed, and approach are a lot more attractive than Arcia's skill set (rare power among a ton of strikeouts, no walks, and bad defense).
  3. Great article! This is a good reference for the next 30+ hours. What about ABW III? His numbers have to be catching people's attention. Are you assuming he's a definite piece to the Twins outfield in the upcoming years? If not, would he be a "sell high" guy vs Arcia? I'd love to keep ABW III because of his consistent production so far. But if Hicks continues to produce, could the Twins outfield (Buxton, Kepler, Rosario/Arcia, Hicks) picture be pretty full?
  4. My hope is that no top 10 prospect is moved for a reliever. Only a few relievers would would warrant that haul (Davis, Betances, Chapman, Kimbrel). The first two aren't moving the next two are probably too expensive for the Twins. Buxton will have a rehab assignment, probably at Rochester, when he's healthy again. If Hicks keeps progressing like he's done the past two weeks and Arcia is called up and mashes, there may not, dare I say, be room for him without a trade.
  5. The Miracle's turn around this year has not gotten enough pub. The first few weeks of the season started out so poorly that it seemed improbable we'd ever be talking about a run to a potential playoff spot. The lineup has never produced a ton of runs consistently. But the starting pitching has been outstanding. I'd love to know their stats and their rankings relative to other FSL teams and others throughout the minors. I have to feel they have one of the strongest staffs around. Hu, Slegers, Eades, Stewart, Batts, & Gonsalves is a really strong 6-man rotation.
  6. Great point on Mauer's batting position. Although going by the "if not him, than who" argument, I don't think he should drop to 6th or 7th. I've been thinking for three years now Mauer is an ideal #2 guy. With Buxton leading off (one game , I know, but that success should at least warrant an extended stay there), Mauer needs to bat second and let Dozier hit in the 3-hole.
  7. This was a good article, but it left out the issue of Ricky Nolasco. The Twins will actually have 7 starters for 5 spots. Performance-wise Nolasco has been the poorest, but the Twins have been reluctant in giving up his spot.
  8. Yeah, but is he as good as Omar Infante? I mean, I think the All Star Game starter has got to be the best in the league, right? KC fans are the worst!
  9. Not terrible, but is he more deserving than Milone? I'm also thinking down the road when Santana comes back from suspension. Then we'll have 7, not 6, starters for 5 spots. Nolasco, then, would have to be the one dropped, if it was based on performance alone, out of Hughes, Gibson, Pelfrey, and May, right? Any chances the Twins would explore a 6-man rotation like the Mets? Or would it be a move to the bullpen for someone?
  10. Don't disagree with anything on the list. Milone deserves the nod over Gonsalves. Even with major league experience, it took a lot of character to perform the way he did after being sent down. I agree, he is a MAJOR league pitcher and should remain there. Seth, can you explain if there is any contractual issues that would prevent the Twins from swapping Nolasco and Milone. Does Nolasco's big contract or the rules over the 25-man roster negate the Twins from keeping Nolasco in AAA? It seems like every other post I make is ripping Nolasco. He's been the worst Twins starter by far. For two years he pitch poorly, a sudden "injury" will pop up, he'll move to the DL, get a couple of rehab starts (only in Low-A ball of course, because that's just like the majors) and then jump right back into the rotation, bumping more deserving guys (Milone) off. I am confused. There's gotta be something I'm missing. I don't care about a big contract for a AAA pitcher. Let's just win!!!
  11. Who's Arcia? Right now I'd guess 2016 starters will be LF Rosario, CF Buxton, RF Hicks. The Arcia thing is in jest, but considering who's coming, the only thing he has working for him is that he's left-handed. The Twins lineup is going to be STACKED with righties (Dozier, Plouffe, Buxton, Sano -as DH, Pinto - #freejosmil, and maybe Walker III or Harrison). That's why Kepler's progress is great. Same with Polanco. Great post!
  12. Interesting idea. Besides tradition and shying away from the norm, I don't see much wrong with a 6-man rotation. That said, if the extra day of rest screws up the routines of the pitchers, then it may not be worth it. Also, I still don;t get the Nolasco guaranteed spot. I have posted several times wondering if Twins fans would be more mad about demoting a high salary guy becasue of bad performance or keep running him out there because of the big contract. For me, it'd be the latter. The Twins are winning. Forget about salaries, the best pitchers should pitch. Nolasco has easily been the worst starter this year. He's racked up a few wins while surrendering tons of hits and escaping numerous jams because of good luck and run support. Milone for Nolasco should happen NOW. When Santana comes back, then we'll talk again.
  13. Milone's AAA numbers are incredible!!! I thought he was just a soft-tossing lefty who struck almost no one out. I get there's a big difference between MLB and AAA hitters, but what Milone is doing, dominating like he is, can stand up anywhere. He handled the demotion like a stud and didn't go whining to the media like others have been known to do. As to what to do, I'm with you Seth in adopting a "win now" mentality. The Twins have a winning record for the first time in like a billion years. The roster needs refinement, not an overhaul. May is struggling. He should go down. That said, I hate the mentality of a player's contract determining playing time. Nolasco has been terrible since getting to Minnesota. On performance alone, he's the no-doubter for demotion. Would the fans really revolt because the 2nd-biggest FA signing in the team's history gets demoted because THE TEAM ACTUALLY WANTS TO WIN GAMES as opposed saving face on the contract? I sure hope not. The only reason I say May goes down is because he is young enough to actually benefit and learn from the trip. Apparently Nolasco can only pitch in Cedar Rapids and Pelfrey might just take off and never show up.
  14. It's a fair question. But the dominance of the numbers he's put up (1.03 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 6/1 K/BB) thru 6 games show he might have the stuff, though not flashy, to succeed at higher levels. At a certain point, performance has to outweigh prospect rankings. A fun question may be who do you expect more from, Hu or Meyer? Stuff is nice, but if it doesn't show up during the games, what good is it. I'm not saying Meyer is done for. I just mean that when dominant stats start piling up, it may be time to ignore what various people think of a pitcher's "stuff" and start paying attention to HOW a guy pitches, attacks batters, and competes. These are three intangible areas where Hu has to rank high within the organization.
  15. I'm pumped for my boy Hu! Hard to argue with Gonsalves at #1. I can't wait till he moves up to Ft. Myers and we get to see him, Hu, Slegers, Eades, and hopefully soon after Stewart back at the top of the rotation.
  16. Another dominant start from Gonsalves. How many more starts do you think before he gets the call to FTM? Also, the Kanzler - Hu homer story is funny considering it was the first home run Hu has given up with Twins organization.
