  1. LaMonte Wade is categorically not a superior defender to Rosario.
  2. 2nd highest DRS, highest UZR, and highest Def rating for American League left fielders with a minimum of 800 innings.
  3. I do not trust the voting process for any awards. I am basing my comment off of defensive metrics, my own personal scouting, and insider knowledge in the game. Also, please do not be so patronizing as to suggest I reevaluate how I judge baseball defenders - I have professional experience doing just that.
  4. Grossman was the best left fielder in the AL who played a minimum of 800 innings. Just a few years ago, he was the worst defensive outfielder in baseball. Last year, Eddie Rosario was the second best defensive left fielder in the AL who played a qualified amount of innings, but this year, the metrics were not as kind to him. The impact of defense is overvalued, since better positioning and player development is what has the most influence on being good in this category.
  5. Care to elaborate? It can be a great way to get underrated players. I don't see why Wisler isn't any better than say, Fernando Romero.
  6. I'm having a real hard time seeing how Dobnak and Smeltzer can contribute to a major league team as starters for a full season. Both are bullpen arms at best. Perez and Gibson were both beyond competent the first half of the season. I doubt we have that kind of contribution from our #3 and #4 starters next season unless we get new #1 and #2 starters.
  7. The Twins would be extremely lucky to finish anywhere near the right side of .500 ball if they go with this do-nothing rotation.
  8. 1 Luis Arraez 2b 2 Jorge Polanco ss 3 Max Kepler rf 4 Nelson Cruz dh 5 Eddie Rosario lf 6 Miguel Sano 3b 7 Mitch Garver c 8 C.J. Cron 1b 9 Jake Cave cf
  9. Just curious, but have you ever seen Sean Hjelle pitch? I wouldn't say that his changeup doesn't flash much. It has potential to be a plus pitch.
  10. Fastball with a ton of movement. Could be quite a weapon with that speed.
  11. Dozier has 19 more home runs than Logan Forsythe.
  12. Sounds like high school baseball.
  13. Or a Hrbowski doppelganger from previous days.
  14. A story about Josh Hader: A few years back when the Astros wanted to acquire Trevor Plouffe someone asked me who I would personally want in return. Josh Hader was the prospect who I liked the most in the Astros farm system, so I promptly named him. Disappointing to see him in a Brewers uniform tonight....
  15. Mahtomedi’s senior left fielder Lincoln Rock came just shy of a home run in batting practice on Friday, which would have been a first of his high school career. Now he can spend the rest of his life telling stories about how Jack Schwietz and Weston Shelander hit the ball farther than he did, proving that pitchers rake. Another note from Mahtomedi: During legion ball, pinch runner Brandon Anderson was ejected for playing the game too hard. Farmington nearly came back to win what had been a 12-2 game, thanks to their number nine hitter’s great at bats. Fortunately, their team had nothing on Chuck B.
  16. I wish you would have asked him about his love for conspiracy theories, and if he would start a Twins Daily account so he could discuss it in the sports bar. That would be epic.
  17. I knew they liked him. An executive with the Mariners told me that they really wanted him, but that they prefer going with college bats in the first round. When he was available in the second when they picked I knew they would take him.
  18. Sophomore. And his brother is going to play at Stanford next spring.
  19. I want Mike Baumann. I saw him throw privately last week and was really impressed.
  20. So we pretty much drafted Enlow where Leach was expected to go, and Leach where Enlow was expected to go.
  21. I know for a fact that McKay prefers pitching.
