    I'm with Mike on the over. Some how they'll find a way to sneak over .500 before their lineup completely falls apart from old age.

    Numbers like Seth projected would certainly put him in the top 3 of MVP voting.. I think we'll see those numbers in the future, but probably not this year. I'm going to be curious who will hit behind Sano to keep the opposing pitchers honest. .267 BA / .830 OPS / 31 HR / 25+ IBB

    Would this be the right time to slide Tonkin through waivers in the hopes that he doesn't get claimed? Considering other teams are settling in with their 25 man rosters and trades are rarely made during this time of year... I get it, he's had a couple of good outings lately. I'm still going to beat that drum that he's not going to be someone the Twins miss if he's let go.

    *takes in a deep breath* Ahhh.. Can you smell it? I've been waiting all winter for that sweet scent of STRONG takes! Whenever a strong take is in the air, a SCORCHING hot take is not that far behind... Which means real baseball is close!

    This may sound like I'm down on Buxton, but I'd honestly be pleased with results like this at the plate for his first full season: .240 BA / .680-700 OPS / 8 HR / 25 SB / 5+ Web Gems on Baseball Tonight

    Much like diehard, I think there's going to be a slight decline at the plate for this season, but his defense will still provide value for the team. Going forward I'd love to see the OBP climb so he can be a table setter at the top of the order. .250 BA / .680-.700 OPS / 14 HR

    I would be very disappointed if Buxton is not the opening day CF. For someone who's been hyped nationally for this long, consistently a top 2 prospect overall in the MLB, it's hard not to be impatient as a fan.

    In the hypothetical rotation, when would Berrios have a shot at making the team? If May is back into the fold as a starter, wouldn't that hold back Berrios another year at least? He would be at best 3rd in line behind the losers of the Nolasco, Milone, Duffey battle. I'm willing to bet they are giving May false hope right now that he can still compete for a spot in the rotation. They were pretty quick to let him know of his role. I guess only insiders would know if May had a real chance of starting this year. From my recliner it didn't appear to be a true open competition for him against the others. I'd predict between now and 2018 when Nolasco and Santana comes off the books May has less than 10 starts. If we could go back and not sign one of Nolasco, Santana or Hughes I'd be all for it. They're becoming a problem now for Berrios, Duffey and May getting their chance in the rotation. It's only going to get worse in 2017-2018 when more upside arms are ready for the big show.

    As a pitcher on the MLB staff, he absolutely is locked in... Unless there's been some development of another team wanting him for a bucket of sunflower seeds.

    I agree that the team has cornered itself, but what were they supposed to do? They're locked into Santana, Hughes, Nolasco, and Gibson for better or worse. I didn't agree with bringing Milone back, but there's some infatuation with having a left handed pitcher on staff... Where's the opportunity for May to be a starter?

    I'd argue that your timing is a few months off. We woke up on November 2nd and said, we need May in the pen because nobody there can strike anyone out. Certainly explains the lack of activity to address the bullpen all winter long.

    I suppose that is reasonable. I guess for me I've moved on and would rather look at Berrios as the next man up instead of May. I don't see anything wrong with having a younger upside guy like May you can trust in the bullpen. It's certainly possible that May is the most trustworthy option out there if Jepsen's 2nd half was an aberration similar to Suzuki's All-Star 1st half a couple years ago..

    How many times can we have the same tired argument of May as a starter vs. May as a reliever? I was frustrated last season when he was the odd man out, but I really don't get the frustrations going into this season. This was a pretty easy assumption to make in the off-season that he would be in the pen...

    Over by a fair amount of games. Hamels and Darvish are a great 1-2 punch in the rotation. Good lineup and depth in the farm in case of injury. They'll finish 2nd in the AL West.

    I'm pretty confident about a couple of things with Plouffe: - He's going to be red-hot at the plate for a month. Multiple threads will be started on why would the Twins ever get rid of Plouffe. - He will follow that up with being ice cold at the plate for 4-6 weeks. Multiple threads will be started on trade Plouffe now. - He will remain a Twin for the entire 2016 season (whether we agree with it or not) .245 BA, .735 OPS, 18 HR.

    Doesn't fit the story line of "We can convert relievers to starters!" Duffey was the first success story. No chance they go back on that unless it's obvious it needs to be done.

    Duffey was the right call late last season as his curve ball was dead on. This year, I'm not sure he should be the first guy called up if he indeed gets sent to AAA to start the season. IMO Berrios should get the first call, followed by Duffey.

    Sigh, you're probably right. I'm depressed just looking at that rotation.

    IIRC, he was removed from the 40 man and Pat Dean took his place. I don't believe he has a clear path to the majors either. Lots of fringe guys to sift through for our favorite ball club.

    So what does the future hold for Rogers? Go back to starting in AAA? Keep him in the bullpen in AAA?
