  1. The guys that are playing every game so far, they are likely the stars on their teams, no? I’m curious. Our stars require a mandatory sit day every 4-5 games.
  2. I dislike the Buxton plan very much. It’s only robbing the team and the fans of the immense value he provides at a premium position. Take advantage of the rare time when Buxton is healthy and play him in the field. There is nothing indicating that he’s injured right now. The current strategy is becoming borderline preposterous. Yesterday as a prime example… They would rather change 3 players’ positions and eliminate the DH vs. having him play 1 inning in the field.
  3. Two old friends in one update
  4. Big barometer test coming up this week. I am thrilled to see the starting staff pitch so well. Rocco, it turns out, does know how to manage a staff when he has talent to work with. Correa has a long enough track record to not be concerned about the slow start. However, I am concerned about potential sophomore slumps with Gordon and Miranda. Can we please start easing Buxton into CF again? Even with the hot start, he’s only the 8th ranked DH for fWAR and wrc+. It’s a shame we’re only seeing a fraction of the value he can provide for the team.
  5. Tom is never going to accomplish the illustrious 9-9-9 challenge (9 hot dogs, 9 beers, 9 innings) now that games are 2.5 hours!
  6. I’ve been withholding judgment on this team until I see them against the better teams like Houston and NYY. We shall see. I don’t have the warm and fuzzies about the Twins. Especially when it comes to the offense.
  7. Well the days of large TV contracts are likely over. Teams will have to explore additional revenue streams.
  8. These 3 missed payments appear to be strategic on Diamond Sports’ end. Twins are on the final year of the contract and have shown zero interest in negotiating further; nor should they. Arizona’s deal is wildly bloated as is Cleveland for the low amount of people watching. They probably prefer to have these contracts voided.
  9. Very pleasant start to the season. The real MVP is the pitch clock. Every game under 2 hours 45 minutes. You love to see it. It’s very evident we have moved away from the HR or bust team and officially back to pitching and defense. Hopefully the pitching keeps up against the tough opponents coming up this month.
  10. Things just didn’t click for Javier in the minor leagues.
  11. The pitch clock is the best rule MLB has implemented in a very long time. This exact game would have been 3 hours 15 min+ last year. I’ve got a feeling we’re going to have to win a lot of low scoring ballgames this year…
  12. I’m shocked that Cole Sands is likely to make the opening day roster. He’s been pretty bad all of spring training.
  13. Middle of the pack payroll, bad TV contract, and a whole season where Target Field was maybe half full won’t help out the bottom line. As we also see from the Braves being owned by a publicly traded entity, making/advancing in the playoffs is an enormous money maker.
  14. We would need a lot of things to go in the Twins favor to win 90+. I feel pretty comfortable predicting 85-88 wins this year. The Guardians get the Francona bump and remain AL Central champs… The White Sox have a sneaky good rotation. If their core of players ever puts it together they could be a threat too.
  15. You should call up John Bonnes while he’s in Vegas and place some bets! Vegas over/under is 83.5 wins for the Twins. I’d bet the over on that, and hammer the under on your prediction of 92. Pitching and defense has become the identity of the team. I’m still concerned about the offense…
  16. Definitely looks like it with each passing day.
  17. Ringing endorsement from Pete Bercich
  18. From my perspective it’s more of the latter situation. Then again, I don’t dive into the depths of hell known as #VikingsTwitter. I stay close to the surface reading the beat writers’ tweets. With my friend group at least, there is more frustration with running it back the last couple of years. Even during a season where we saw some of the luckiest circumstances go in favor of the Vikings, we still couldn’t muster a playoff win. I don’t know why we’re not making a bigger effort to rebuild for something better.
  19. We’re #1! We’re #1!
  20. Not a good day for Kwesi. We are running out of realistic moves to fit the free agent signings + keeping Cook and Z Smith. Sure, they can both be traded anytime. However, today was the deadline to make a decision before additional guaranteed money was added to the books. I’m at a loss. $20 million total cap hit for Cook, Mattison, and Ham. That’s not how I envision an analytical GM to operate…
  21. I’m getting slightly concerned that Davenport wasn’t at the press conference yesterday. Hopefully he doesn’t do the old switcharoo and sign elsewhere. Probably indicates why ZaDarius is still on the roster. Today has to be the day to make a decision on Dalvin Cook. Some of his salary becomes guaranteed today, as well as Z Smith.
  22. I still don’t think Mattison will be the primary starter if/when we get rid of Cook. This is a deep RB draft class. I’d love to draft one in the 3rd/4th round… Tank Bigsby, Zach Evans, and Zach Charbonnet are my targets. In regards to Dalvin, I’m guessing all we’re getting for trade offers is a 7th round pick. He’s simply making too much money and clearly lost a step last season. Not going to get any better for him.
  23. I’m good with bringing him back at this rate. Now let’s do something about Dalvin.
  24. He doesn’t have any of the charisma Brett Favre had. I could see Rodgers dividing a locker room. That’s why he wants to get some of his boys like Lazard, Cobb, and Mercedes Lewis in the building.
