  1. They don’t make classic comedy movies like this anymore and it’s a shame. I saw this in theaters at least 3 times as a teenager.
  2. I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I just took a casual picture after my shower this morning.
  3. Yeah it will but I believe this was the plan all along. Last year was the final push with Hunter and Kirk and it’s unfortunate how it played out. The Vikings are in good shape for 2025 with the 1st round pick and $80-100 million in cap space.
  4. 2024 was always the planned transition year. All I hope is KOC and KAM don’t panic and throw in McCarthy before he’s ready. Protecting the 2025 1st is key because I think we will be picking top 10, maybe 5 overall. 5 wins is all I see.
  5. Interesting that this news came out today for the NFL. A new 3 year agreement with Netflix. So now there are 4 streaming services (Peacock, ESPN+, Amazon Prime, Netflix) broadcasting at least 1 NFL game in 2024. They all want at least a sliver of the pie and rake in a couple thousand extra subscribers who forget to cancel. The Roku/MLB partnership indicates the interest and demand from other platforms streaming baseball games… Before this thread began I didn’t know there was a Roku channel.
  6. It is until it’s no longer free. Apple TV games last year started out free then you had to subscribe.
  7. People at the very least had to sign up for the 7 day trial and remember to cancel it in time. NFL is not immune to complaints about fragmenting their content. People still refuse to get Amazon Prime for Thursday Night Football. Still, probably 75% of their total games are on OTA channels FOX, ABC (there were several weeks where both ESPN and ABC broadcast MNF at the same time), CBS, and NBC. I’m not sure about gophers bball I don’t follow them.
  8. You’re joking, right? There was a major uproar about a playoff game being shown exclusively on Peacock last year.
  9. Come on. You know there is a significant difference between a game on FOX, over the air TV, vs. an app.
  10. I’m right there with you on every point you made in your post. All of us could pirate the content. It’s easy to find in a Google search. As you said, it’s out of pure principle. At this point, I don’t want to support an organization that is shutting out a significant percentage of people from their content. I’m also not going to spend $80 a month to gain access to 1 channel. The choice is yours, MLB… I’m doing other things now instead of watching baseball. So will my 80 year old aunt that can’t load a webpage, let alone figuring out which streaming platform to click on to watch the Twins.
  11. Yep, it is. Rob Manfred can go pound sand.
  12. Who comes up with these click bait headlines? Buzzfeed is hiring.
  13. Yeah, Glen Taylor getting credit for anything is wild. He’s ran the organization into the ground for 20 years before striking gold with Anthony Edwards. Their multi-year ownership transition is something we’ve never seen in any sport before. Now that Taylor got cold feet because the team is finally great, it’ll never happen again.
  14. Yeah I figured it had more to do with their parents’ watching habits. Then once they head off to college it will be out of sight, out of mind for them too.
  15. Spot on. There is immense power in out of sight, out of mind. You’ve got insight that others don’t, coaching HS baseball. Do the kids even watch MLB games? Or just the highlights on Twitter or Tik Tok?
  16. The Twins have been killing their brand for more than 3 years. DSG pulled Bally Sports from popular cable alternatives like YouTube TV and Hulu TV in 2021. Those folks have new routines now, and watching the Twins isn’t a part of the routine anymore. The relationship with Bally Sports is only getting worse. Beyond the TV disaster, Dave St Peter continues to say tone deaf things every year. Placing the blame on fans not showing up to the ballpark as the reason for trading away players and reducing payroll. That’s not how this works in 2024. Not when there are other sports and entertainment options available in the area.
  17. Shameless plug. Join us in the “growing”, pun intended, gardening group in the Other thread category.
  18. My formative teenage years were in the golden age of Napster and Limewire so I’m not naive to the other options online. The thing is, I don’t want to do that on a consistent basis. For now I’m giving the Pohlads what they want - one less pair of eyes watching their content.
  19. Let the fun begin! - Roma, Cherokee Purple, and San Marzano tomatoes - Row of carrots - 3 rows of white onion - Green and Red Bell Peppers and Jalapeño - 2 romaine, rosemary, basil, and a half row of radishes for my dad
  20. Starting to sell assets in early May is peak Marlins behavior. They just can’t get out of their own way no matter who owns the team.
  21. Wouldn’t surprise me if that was and still is the plan. MLB just can’t take on the debt Diamond Sports Group has on their books, so MLB is waiting for them to finalize bankruptcy. Amazon coming in to bail out DSG this winter delayed the inevitable.
  22. I’m getting excited to plant! We’ve had a lot of rain recently but the weather is supposed to be great on Sunday. I’m planning on at least tilling the ground and taking out as many thistle weeds as I can. Those buggers are sprouting like crazy at the moment. I’m thinking I’ll do another Cherokee Purple heirloom tomato plant, beefsteak tomato plant (I want a lot more salsa this season), 2 rows of white onion, jalapeno pepper plant, bell pepper plant, and a few rows that will change over the season (romaine, radishes, peas) What’s on your planting list this year? @Mike Sixel @davidborton @RpR @gunnarthor
  23. The game threads of the glory years rarely discussed the game going on. Maybe 20% of the posts were actually about things happening on the field. I bowed out after my blindfolded meme yesterday because until further notice, I can’t make any comments about what’s happening on the field. I miss the old game threads too. I wrote tons of openers just like RB and tried my best to make the atmosphere fun no matter what was happening on the field. I’ve accepted long ago those days are over.
  24. Agreed. This is not going to look good for their next TV/streaming negotiation this winter. Years of mishaps have gotten us to this point today… The Twins have been out of sight, out of mind for cord cutters the last 3 years. Watching the Twins is no longer in their routine. No one besides an RSN is jumping at the opportunity to broadcast 150+ games. Why would an OTA channel spend that kind of money for the broadcast when they can get the same size audience watching a cheaply produced reality show or re-runs of King of Queens? MLB has a big problem on their hands. The pin is inches away from touching the bubble.
