  1. Geez, we have like 2 guys that would play on any team, and those two guys suck right now.
  2. Is this similar to the statement "It's a bit early to worry about wins and losses?"
  3. I'm really enjoying the fast start Hicks has gotten off to. Is that new First Basemen we signed supposed to be a good hitter? I see here he hasn't gotten a hit yet. I thought players at that position hit homeruns? Can someone fill me in?
  4. Forget it, Suzuki just doubled, I'm all in. Fill in the blank spaces, let's sign him long-term.
  5. Bartlett will pinch run for Pinto in the 2nd inning and get Kurt's stick back in.
  6. Has the youngster, Kurt Suzuki grabbed the catching job by the throat and forced aging prospect, Josmil Pinto, to be a MiLB Catcher for the rest of his short career? Gardy was quoted before today's game with this nugget. "I just feel like the young guy should get his chances on this team, I mean we aren't very good, why sit around and give chances to guys who are older and not answers to the future of this team?" "I want to see what our young guys can do, that's why Kurt is going to be back there instead of Pinto." I'm just having some fun. I am pleased with Suzuki's hot start, but if you think he is going to hit .500 you are crazy. I am not so happy that Pinto hasn't played yet, especially with a good PH opportunity on Monday. Hopefully he gets the start behind the dish tomorrow and a DH start on Friday.
  7. lol no. I don't usually get much time to watch games and post along with it, so I have to get my money's worth when applicable. :-) Let's go 1-1 tomorrow, eh!?
  8. I think I agree with you. I mean I'm excited, but mostly for this somewhat fictional idea about the future and how good we could be. Who knows if we will reach it.
  9. Yes and potentially bat RH instead of LH, or potentially get one less at-bat as a LH hitter. It's no secret that he swings pretty well from the Right side. We will see if he has made a little progress on Wednesday from the left side. Gardy will not do this btw.
  10. Then there is NO WAY Pinto should be in the Majors. (Unless you are referring to some extreme split Kubel has against him) Pinto needs to play. This doesn't do him a whole lot of good. If Pinto contributes to a 90 loss team and we find out if we have a future catcher, then fine. If Kubel, Collabello and Suzuki are main contributors as DH/C for 90 loss team and we still don't know about Pinto, then what a waste of a season. Because lord knows Gardy isn't giving Suzuki the day off after today's performance. AND YES, I am going to spaz out like this after one game, two games, three games. Because as we all know, 1 game does matter.
  11. Any predictions on Wednesday lineup? Same lineup? Hopefully: 2B: Dozier C : Suzuki (not going to say otherwise, because it doesn't matter) 1B: Mauer LF: Willingham RF: Arcia DH: Pinto 3B: Plouffe SS: Florimon CF: Hicks( I'd bump him down to 9th against RHP, especially since LH hitting is Florimon's "GOOD" side)
  12. Disappointing first game of the year. Typical issues for Minnesota makes me worry about this season more than I was before the game began. Grading out game one: 1- Nolasco- all things aside, lots of pitches up, lots of HARD hit balls. Not impressed. - Swarzak- nice outing. 96 on the gun apparently. - Thielbar- the little slurve he threw was nasty. - Fien - rocket up the middle but can't complain 2- Suzuki- thought he looked good behind plate, thought he could've went and talked to Nolasco a bit more. Great 2 out hitting. w/o him we lose 5-0 3- Mauer - looked like a mediocre ballplayer today. offensively and defensively. 4- Dozier - Great D, absolutely terrible offensively. 5- Plouffe - had a double, but 2 terrible at-bats and a couple ugly plays at 3rd. 6- Florimon- solid sac bunt, very nice game defensively. -Escobar - very very poor at-bat. Not sure how he was first man up to pinch hit there with two much better hitters on the bench.. 7- Willingham - need offense from him, didn't get any. Good Defensive game. 8- Hicks- could've possibly saved a run, but played solid D, hit cut-off. Good RH day. 9- Arcia - could've saved a run for sure. Swing just a little off. Chased a ball to end game. DH- Collabello - 2 good at-bats, 2 poor at-bats. Thought Kubel should've DEFINITELY pinch-hit for hin in 9th, but he came up big. Gardy- Poor managing job. Not sure why you don't at least have them review Mauer's close play at 1st in the 6th. Not sure why after everything you have seen in the game let Escobar hit for Florimon instead of Pinto. Not sure why you let Colabello hit in 9th, even though it worked out. What is the point of having a versatile bench if you don't use them correctly? Overall, very disappointing first game. We even got 3 off of Sale and couldn't manage to win this one. Only true bright spot was Hicks. Suzuki is bittersweet because it just gives Gardy more reason to keep the young catcher, who needs to play, on the bench. *** EDIT**** Tim Laudner just gave Nolasco a "B-,B" grade for 6 innings, 5 ER, 10 hits, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HR. This is the level Twins Baseball is at. Extremely low expectations.
  13. COUNTDOWN TO CORRECT: Updated March 3-31 (Totals are whats left from original prediction) Kurt Suzuki - 20 doubles, 5 homers Josmil Pinto - 20 doubles, 10 homers Joe Mauer - – 45 doubles, 15 homers Brian Dozier– 35 doubles, 14 homers, 25 SB Trevor Plouffe- 24 doubles, 22 homers Pedro Florimon– 20 doubles, 8 homers, 20 SB Josh Willingham– 22 doubles, 16 homers Aaron Hicks – 27 doubles, 12 homers, 15 SB Jason Kubel – 25 doubles, 16 homers Oswaldo Arcia – 32 doubles, 27 homers Chris Colabello – 19 doubles, 12 homers Eduardo Escobar – 12 doubles, 2 homers Jason Bartlett - 10 doubles, 1 homer, 12 SB
  14. "I can't wait for Correia to pitch on Wednesday" Said no one ever.
  15. Then Bert tells us "Good inning by Nolasco."
  16. Well, it's only the first start of the year, but Nolasco needs to figure out what the hell he is doing out there. Leaving tons of pitches up. I've seen him throw about two really good pitches.
  17. Exactly. Everyone knew Shaq wasn't going to make a FT. Everyone knew Mutumbo was going to swat left and right. No one knows when Willy is going to make a great defensive play. No one knows when Jason Tyner is going to hit a missile into the bleacher seats.
  18. Shows what I know. The guy I would say is least likely to make a nice defensive play in the outfield, makes the nice defensive play in the outfield. Good job Willy.
  19. Wait, are you guys actually debating if Florimon should've caught that bad in the 3rd inning? Yes, you catch that ball. It was 50 feet from 3B.
  20. 2 or 3 well hit balls in 3 innings is a lot! I would disagree about unbelievable bad luck. I would say he was lucky to get 2 double play balls to apparently limit the damage.
  21. I thought he was going to get there, but it did hit off the wall...I think maybe we aren't giving this wind the credit it's due. My apologies, Oswaldo.
  22. Nolasco is getting his tits lit up, lets get Deduno loose in the pen. Don't care how much we are paying him.
  23. I am though, he seems like a good guy...A good guy to have as a backup Corner OF/ backup 1B/3B
  24. Gardy and the GM do that all the time. It had more to do with service clock and the veteran SS in front of Bartlett. Now Bartlett is the Veteran, doesn't matter if he can do anything or not, there isn't anyone behind him anyways.
