  1. A triple play with the bases loaded -- Diamond had it under control the entire time.
  2. I guess he's not going to take the easy way -- three singles and the bases loaded with no outs in the third.
  3. Uh, 9 runs in and they're still batting? Not bad.
  4. 1982 at least had the advantage of seeing Hrbek, Gaetti, Viola et al getting experience and pretty much playing .500 ball the last couple months. My pick for worst was the strike struck 1981 season. Absolutely dreadful.
  5. That's OK. I always stand on my head on Sunday afternoons.
  6. Can there be a more depressing headline than this from the Twins home page at mlb.com? "Correia leads Twins' bid for series win in finale"
  7. Oh, Oh, Oh my, CANADA!,
  8. Someone needs to do a screen shot of Pelfry's stats right now to prove that he does in fact have an ERA under 5.
  9. The A's are stomping the Tigers 14-1 this evening so just for the heck of it I take a look at the box score. Some guy named Moss is 4-5 with 2 HRs and 6 RBIs. The I notice the A's are 11-19 w/RISP. 11-19 in one game!!! It would take the Twins a week to get 11 hits w/RISP. And that would be a good week.
  10. Uh, do you have a Plan B?
  11. I don't have a picture of it but in front of the cemetery where my father-in-law is buried there is a big sign that says, "Space Available". It struck me as being rather....awkward (and rather amusing in a black humor sort of way).
  12. Let's just hope the Twins don't bring him up with someone named Flounder.
  13. I forgot the Twins had a game today. Kinda like they did.
  14. So they managed to surpass their performance in the three game sweep by KC a couple of weeks ago. Good grief.
  15. Well, it still needs some work.
  16. Maybe they should change the words: "Please go and hit the ball, To drive in runs, When there's two on, With no outs, Keep you eye on the ball from above. From the grounders, To the pop ups, To the strike outs, All for nought, Please go and hit the ball, To drive in runs, Please go and hit the ball, To drive in runs."
  17. Let's see, behind 5-2 after 7 and the Twins are 2-15 w/RISP. Someone give me a good reason to keep watching. Note: Being a masochist is not a good reason.
  18. Well, if he could have Arnold would've enlisted also. They'd probably have made him an intelligence officer.
  19. Meanwhile, back to the matter at hand. If Albers keeps this up are the other pitchers going to give him a blanket party?
  20. Tarawa was such a disaster (3,000 dead and wounded) Congress had hearings on it. The USMC learned a few lessons from that one.
  21. Actually he was born in Illinois. On September 9, 1942, Albert enlisted in the United States Navy and was discharged in 1943 to accept an appointment as a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat "V" for his actions during the invasion of Tarawa in November 1943, when, as the pilot of a U.S. Coast Guard landing craft, he rescued 47 Marines who were stranded offshore (and supervised the rescue of 30 others), while under heavy enemy machine-gun fire.[5]
  22. A Morno-copia of home runs.
