  1. I fear Meyer will come back to haunt us. And then slam the organization for altering his delivery. Why why why must this organization tinker with deliveries? Berrios............they wait until he gets to the big league roster, THEN they change his delivery? Amazing. And both Allen and Guardado are back? We should be very afraid. I very much look forward to 2018 when Falvey gets to choose HIS manager and new coaching staff. I've always thought Backman with Viola as pitching coach would be outstanding hires.
  2. I honestly could not even understand it. Not considering Pelfrey was the one who got to stay. Regardless of how well Pelfrey had pitched to that point, he had no business taking a spot from May. One of the worst decisions of Ryan's tenure. Needed bullpen help? Acquire it. Don't stunt a young flame thrower's career.
  3. Best news i heard all day. Never agreed with it from day one. Erv came back from suspension, Pelfrey was the logical choice to go to bullpen or get traded. If they needed bullpen help at the time, ryan should have gone out and acquired it! Not by stunting the career of May. Terrible, awful decision by Ryan.
  4. I think Gordon is the answer at SS and he better get here soon. Dozier or Polanco will have to be dealt. I hope Sano can lose some weight and commit himself to improving his defense at 3B. And BTW, how sweet would it be to sign Napoli? I know, it's a pipe dream. 1B Napoli 2B Dozier or Polanco SS Gordon 3B Sano There are options. But I'm skeptical they'll make the right decisions.
  5. I guess my post didn't really fit the thread title. But it gave me an excuse to talk Bourne. :-)
  6. I want Mark Guthrie's kid!
  7. I don't dislike him. Just view him a utility player. And I want the young players, the future, to play.
  8. I'm not going to call "Jason Bourne" a bad movie. I waited years for Matt Damon to return to the franchise, and I have to admit it was a slight letdown for me. It's tough to live up to Supremecy and Ultimatum. Most of the actors from previous movies were not in it. Tommy Lee Jones didn't do anything for me. Alicia Vikander was OK. I really missed Joan Allen. She better be in the next one. I'm assuming there will be a next one. I really liked the Jeremy Renner branch off they did with Legacy. What was his name in the movie? Hope they give Renner a sequel in the Legacy series too.
  9. I'm just as fearful of Sano at 3B. It doesn't help that Ryan robbed him of a year of development at 3rd last year. It's a supreme frustration to be saddled with Mauer for two more years and being obligated to play him. The infield I posted earlier could be very successful. Sano is the perfect fit for 1st base. I do not believe in playing him at DH. 1B Sano 2B Dozier SS Gordon (pull a Knoblauch and make the team) 3B Polanco This is ideal. Makes so much sense.
  10. I really want no part of Escobar as an everyday player any longer. That ship sailed. He's a 2-3 games a week guy. Like Punto should have been if not for a certain manager's infatuation with him.
  11. Loved Ventura's fire. He wasn't afraid to come up and in. He defended his teammates. Something you don't see much of anymore. What a terrible loss.
  12. In my mind, if he had the drive to match his talent he'd have been one of the best baseball players of all time. There comes a time in every athletes career where they realize they can no longer get by on talent alone, and they're going to have to work at it. He hasn't come to this realization yet, and he never will. His idea of a productive offseason is a little bit of stretching and alot of rest. I've defended him for a long time, but even I can't do it anymore.
  13. A competent organization moves Sano to 1B and Mauer to the bench. Mauer doesn't want to put in the time in the offseason to build strength and endurance so he's not continually breaking down, well he can save his energy by watching from the bench then. 1B Sano 2B Dozier SS Gordon (by midseason if not earlier) 3B Polanco
  14. BTW, I'm referring to Berenguer blowing game 3 of the World Series. Reardon blew game 3 of the ALCS. That was a heart breaker.
  15. We gotta get a 1987 Twins discussion going! Such an amazing season. Such interesting names on that roster. Steve Carlton! Joe Niekro! Don Baylor! Wow! What a season! One thing I felt bad about was Berenguer blew that 1-0 lead in game 3. Winning game 3 would have put Niekro on the mound for game 4!
  16. I'm still trying to process Dozier, Plouffe, Hughes, and Perkins having a "The Bachelor" season finale party last March during spring training. What does it say about your team when your supposed team leaders are throwing "The Bachelor" season finale parties? One of the many differences between the 2016 core, and the 1987 core of Kirby, Herbie, Bruno, and Gaetti.
  17. Solid post. His value will never be higher. Must take what you can get for him now. I see a regression coming. I'll also agree his free fall in 2015 shouldn't be overlooked. Pressure of a pennant race too much for him to handle? Then heading into 2016 with playoff expectations he once again collapsed to start the season. Is he another Glen Perkins? Thrive on losing teams and fall apart when the games become meaningful?
  18. Maybe 1st base and DH can be a three player rotation.
  19. I like that too.
  20. 1B Mauer/Vargas DH Palka/Park
  21. He's absolutely a platoon player. Platooning with Mauer is a great idea. Falvey should acquire a good left handed bat to platoon with Park at DH. Or maybe we have one in house.
  22. That was actually pretty good! I'd love to go.
  23. Have to get this done now. His value will never be higher. Dozier's 2016 will likely be on par with Mauer's 2009. He'll never come close to it again. Dozier stunk in April, May, and without looking it up, I think September too. If he starts this season similarly, his value will plummet. Can't take that chance. Get this done. Slide Polanco over, and I'm predicting Gordon will take a massive step forward and get called up a couple months into the season. Possibly even make the team out of spring training.
  24. The 1987 ALCS. Probably my greatest sports memory. It was magical. NBC's intro was magical. A version of "Take me out to the ballgame" with a little boy finding a magical baseball. And NBC's baseball theme they played before and after games.......ingrained in my mind forever. Gaetti's two home runs. Magic. The comeback. Puckett's double driving in Gladden. Magic. As the ending credits rolled after game one, and NBC's baseball music played to a replay of gladden sliding into home, Bob Costas with the immortal words "And for all the doubters, the Minnesota Twins are very much for real". Chills up my spine. Pretty amazing experience for a 13 year old.
  25. 2007..........what a frustrating season. So much talent. But some unresolved contract situations became huge distractions.
