    I am going to play devil's advocate. We picked up an aging player who can only play DH. We picked up a 2nd basemen who not only couldn't hit last year but he couldnt field either, and we picked up an average first baseman. Now I am hearing from people on this board that we could won 100 games or more? From what? 3 players ? Buxton is a bust get passed that, Sano is very close to being a bust since he cant layoff the outside ball, and that leaves Mauer....oops gone. This team has rental player to appease the fans so they by tickets until July . They haven't addressed our horrid in field with two key losses by picking up Cron and Schoop. Am I happy they actually did something? Sure, do I think it will help this team win the division? Absolutely not unless they pick up some pitching.

    Imo this is simply saving face with the fans. We dont have a good enough team to compete with Cleveland right now. Signing just Cruz will not change the outcome of the season. Dont get me wrong as a fan of the bat I like this signing if it was piggybacked with another signing of a decent starter or a couple above average bullpen arms. Let us not forget that we sucked in the pitching catagory much more than we did in the batting.

    Are you kidding me? This was a horrible signing. 14 million for a rental? Does anyone really think the Twins will compete now because we signed a declining 37 year old? We needed pitching not some rental player. Unbelievable.

    I am for any pitcher outside the organization with a career e.r.a. under 4. They need to do something when it comes to this pitching rotation to shake it up a bit and also drive the younger players to actually do something. I am tired of the Twins continuing to panic mid way through the season for a decent starter when some implodes for 3 or more games. IMO they bring up a bunch if players from AAA who clearly are not ready for a major league start. At least have the option to use them in the bullpen for a couple of games before immediately having them start and sending them back down after a couple of horrid games. We shaved millions upon millions off the payroll with the promise yet again that they would be active during the offseason. Falvey has zero excuse now in this not being his team now let's see if he actually knows what he is doing.

    This is another excuse the FO will give on why no money was spent on pitching. This team is turning into the Florida Marlins.

    Maybe the new excellence is just doing enough to make the season exciting to have a .500 record. That is excellence at its finest.

    Great post. Twins are doing what Twins do best and that is nothing. The team isnt improving and will have a losing record again next year because of it.

    People keep mentioning "core group" what core group? Mauer Dozier, Esky and a constant switch at 3rd. There is no core group there is simply a FO who is going into different directions with from what it looks like no real solid plan unless they are counting on Lewis, Sano, and Buxton to be our saviors which I am tired of them having no backup plan.

    This does nothing to excite me and it is on par with the Twins and how they have been for the last forever seasons regarding FA. They have not helped our pitching at all and continue to put band aids on a damn that has been leaking for sometime.

    Terrible signing and proving once again this is the same old Twins that we are used too. Absolutely no changes to the pitching or bullpen staff.

    Two things about this: It really should not come as any surprise since Falvey wanted this to be his team. The writing was on the wall and there is no way they promote within the organization. We have seen this fail a number of times. Bring in some new blood make some trades and compete for once for a ring.

    I called this. The Twins brought him up too early and it shows. Gonsalves should of been the one to try out. He was having a much better year than Stewart.

    One of my biggest pet peeves is the Mauer bashing. It wasn't his fault the Twins offered him the contract. 6 time All Star, 3 Gold Gloves, 1 MVP and 5 silver slugger awards. It is not all about homeruns.

    The guy has been GM for two years now. Think he deserves a little time before he is hung out to dry. The moves he made with exception of Esky didnt really have much affect on the team and I still believe Esky might be back.

    Why are we still posting about Dozier in the Minnesota Twins portion of the forum? Should be moved to the other baseball section. He isn't a Twin anymore and it is time to move on.

    Falvey was quoted during the Twins game about the amount of prospects we got and how they will come into play during the offseason. I believe he is going to make some big moves.

    This is now Falvey's team. Let's give it a few and see what happens. I do find it a breath of fresh air that the gm is making moves. Hopefully with all the prospects we can make a trade in the off season that will make the present trades look like a genius move.

    The Twins brought him up to early like they tend to do with the majority of their young players. He looked like garbage with his at bats and should of stayed in the minors for another month or so, but hey it is like a trade right?

    With the Yankees acquiring Happ they dont need any other starter. Twins aren't going to trade anyone.

    There is no way Dozier goes to the Brewers. I don't get the daydreaming on this board. He is having an awful year.

    I will say it again, no way Dozier is traded Twins ship is sinking.

    He wont be traded. We have seen it time and time again when it comes to the Twins.
