  1. Would someone please tell me how to create a Forum page? I just don't see how. I did one many months ago but the trail has been lost by me. Thanks!
  2. I've pointed this out before, so if I'm boring, forgive me. But I don't see that anyone has mentioned stolen bases. Schafer has 25 steals in 170 plate appearances, with an OBP of .325. He will finish well inside the top 10 in all of MLB in steals. What if he got 500 or 600 plate appearances in a year? It is an exciting thought. Of course he is probably just teasing us, but he's doing a fine job of teasing.
  3. We put a man on the moon 45 years ago but Dozier can't find a cup that fits.
  4. I'm going to say "Forgettable" and "My Next Album is Going to be would be Great Though!"
  5. Is someone going to make an awful prediction about now?
  6. "That's twenty-five cents, Vargas. On the table. Now." said face-faced Molly.
  7. 67th Twins baserunner to run into a boneheaded out at third. Excuse me, gaffe.
  8. Let me add unnecessarily to that: each of his slides have been identical thus far. Meaning he has practiced, and perfected the move.
  9. I did not know who you were. Now I believe.
  10. But those stolen bases! 23 in 159 plate appearances! It is a stunning statistic. All he needs to do is have a decent OBP, and he'll be fine. A lot to ask, right? I think that's why they're trying him out, and he has performed well above his normal terribleness, so they can't sit him now, at least for awhile.
  11. Good question, Nick. I don't have the answer. I was so excited about Pinto after last September, but I thought sending him down to AAA was the right move in June. Shane, you bring up the idea of platooning Arcia. I looked his splits up and found that so far in 2014, against left handed pitching, he has hit.187/.253/.319. In 2013 against lefties he hit .254/.274/.386. I know the question was about Pinto, but I am alarmed by the regression of Arcia this year, even after his homerun binge of late. If he continues to hit lefties as miserably as he has this year, I hope they do platoon him. (as we all know he is STILL 23, and even will be through the first a month of next season). I'm not sure what experience Pinto has in rightfield, if any ... It's an idea.
  12. The Twins just can't play a competitive game to save their lives.
  13. I think I see Eugene Oregon warming up ...
  14. Insert image: trident for bat in Vargas's paw.
  15. I haven't worked out all the kinks, but wouldn't it be a start? See you at the Winter Meetings to discuss ...
  16. Another observation: If Ausmus had his infield play at regular depth there would have been a double-play (presumably), and then a ground out (Mauer); one run in. By playing the infield "in," over and over again, it has snowballed into a big wad of crap. (yeah Twins, though)
  17. I thought of a way to speed up the game: a pitcher who starts an inning must finish an inning.
  18. If Schaffer* were in center, and Santana at short, nothing would have happened. I wouldn't have typed the sentence I just typed. I wouldn't have typed the one I just finished. My whole world would be different. *I don't want to learn how to spell his name because that would mean I believe he exists.
  19. I this is spot on. "Evidence" to back you up may be circumstantial, but if Arcia does indeed turn it around from this point going forward, one may correlate that turnaround with the arrival of Vargas.
  20. Actually, I took a two-year hiatus from the Twins. In May 2012 I had enough. Stopped cold turkey. Read the box scores the next day. Didn't see Dozier and Arcia play in real life until this season. I think 2014 has been a better year than the previous bummers because there are some sparks of life here and there. Santana, Vargas, Gibson, Hughes, Dozier, Escobar, Arcia, Perkins, Fien, Mauer. Too bad about Sano and Buxton, of course. Like that old saying, if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.
  21. Speaking of segues ... I got nothin.
  22. That is hysterical. BTW, I went to Crookston in 1977! as a freshman in college, played for the baseball team that year; I actually did buy my last baseball glove in Grand Forks. I remember fondly the smell of potatoes cooking in the evening in some factory or other.
  23. "Group Protests Funeral: Down with Coffins! Down with Coffins!"
